So, I am probably the minority here, but I am really not enjoying the new map pack…there is just something “off” about them to me.
I’m an average - decent player, I’m not some halo god but I hold my own and go positive the majority of the time (1.38 k/d)
Playng on these new maps frusterates me even more than normal I don’ know what it is, I can never seem to get a kill and always go negative on these maps.
For instance, the other night I was doing terrible on the map pack maps, took a time out and played some Infinity slayer on adrift and cleaned up, went plus in all games I played in that play list, so I thought to myself “sweet, I’m back on my game, lets go do the DLC list now”
Got into the games and started sucking huge
So, my fellow waypointers, does anyone have suggestions on how to approach these maps, any tips to improve?
In general:
Don’t rush the power weapons. Well, DO rush them, but don’t just blindly run in. Make sure the area is clear first. Or you can learn trick jumps and try to reach them before the enemy does. Whatever your playstyle is. What I guess I am trying to get across is “get them quick, but also use caution”. If they are too contested just don’t go for them, or try to ambush the guy who does grab them.
Use short and medium range weapons. These are small maps. If you get the option between a sniper rifle or a power up, take the powerup.
Stay vertical. You don’t want to be under a bunch of people, especially when some of the maps have railings that work to their advantage.
I wish I could use my own tips but I’m too aggressive of a player. I just like to rush rush rush no matter what.
Skyline - Use Promethean Vision every single match. It’s the only way to avoid getting demolished by shotty campers. When you’re outdoors the DMR is going to eat you alive unless you’re also using a DMR(I use the BR now so I essentially hate everyone that uses the DMR).
Monolith - Only go to the middle when Rockets are their and make sure you don’t just rush for them. Literally everyone else on the map is probably also going for them. Stay around the perimeter of the map and try to stick with a teammate. Team shooting is a big thing on this map considering how small it is.
Skyline - Just like Monolith you want to stick with teammates. Start straying off and you’re going to get team shot nearly every single time.
My actual used tactics for each map - RUSH HARD 24/7.

Thanks for the reply I will definatly do that and hopefully you can tell me where I am going wrong
I guess I probably should have told you the load out I use most for the new maps
P. Weapon: BR
S. Weapon: Boltshot/Magnum
Grenades: Frag
AA: Thruster pack
Tac pack: Resupply
Sup upgrade: explosives
Thats my main loadout for small-ish maps, anything you feel I should tinker with?
I was thinking of swaping out resupply for dexterity but I’m undecided
On these small maps I love to “bait” the power ups. Generally I won’t make a rush to the power weapons but I have spots on each maps where I will rush to and they have clear lines of sights on the power weapons, then you can pick people off as they rush in. I generally hang around the outside of these maps. But my Loadouts for these maps are
Main: DMR
Secondary: Boltshot/Magnum
Grenade: Frag
AA: PV(I personally only use PV but jet pack can be very useful on these)
Tactical: Grenadier
Support: Explosives
This is my main loadout, I generally can do pretty well with it Explosives is great on these maps
My secondary loadout is
Main: BR
Secondary: Assault Rifle
Grenade: Frag
AA: PV
Tactical: Firepower
Support: Explosives
Hope this helps. But just use what your comfortable with.
To much stuff in the way to run behind. I think it’s there attempt to balance the game, but I think they’ve gone excessive with it. I find myself allot of the time not getting kills that I deserve because there’s too much clutter and they just run behind something and then someone else kills me. I think they’re good maps, just to much clutter. Except for that really small map, I don’t really like that one.
