I’ve scoured everywhere, and I can’t seem to find a definitive answer regarding people playing the game early, and if its allowed or not (legit player’s that is).
I was lucky enough to get a legit, retail copy of Halo early. I bought it, its all wrapped in plastic, and its the “real” deal. However, I have yet to play it, or insert it into my xbox, for fear that I will become one of those players who is banned in the crossfire. I’ve been reading stories of reviewer’s getting accidentally banned by microsoft/343i, for playing the game early. I’m not sure if there’s a way for them to tell if someone is playing a pirated copy vs. a retail copy, but I was just curious.
So, if you have a retail, legit version of the game, can you play it now? Or would it be better to wait until this weekend, etc.
(I could wait until launch, which is fine, but I’d rather pass my boring time playing a fun game).
EDIT: It should also be noted that I e-mailed microsoft regarding the issue, and am waiting to hear back.
You always could make a new account and play on that one while not being connected to live. You have to go back and redo everything on your main account though come launch day.
On a separate note, is there going to be any new bulletins up today? I remember people saying that this might be the day they discuss a separate ranking system, since its the last day in October.

This is the truth. We seem to have this same topic every time new AAA title comes out. You will not get banned. If you feel this is not true just play off line until November 6th.
