I pre-ordered my copy of Halo 4 at gamesonly.at. They usually send me the game 1-4 days before launch and are a 100 % legal company!
My Question:
Will I get banned for playing Halo 4 already on November 2nd online?
I haven´t had any problems yet for playing new games a few days before the official release. This website is also absolutely legal.
I ask this question because if I am lucky enough to get the game a few days earlier I could not wait one more minute to play the game, as I am sure most of you will understand.
Also note that I will not post any spoilers when I have played the game! I want every Halo fan to have the best possible experience with Halo 4.
Legit copies won’t get you ban but I would say just play custom games or something just in case.
well sure it might be legal but the multiplayer servers wont be up so i dont see much of a point if youre a huge multiplayer person, but i dont know i would have to guess that you might because the game isnt supposed to ship until november 6th unless theres special permission to this company.
Yeah, I was kinda worried about it too, since I pre-ordered from Amazon and I know that online retailers sometimes ship a few days early.

I’d say play with your Xbox disconnected from XBL if you’re worried about it.
I do wonder when is the earliest one can play.

You shouldn’t get banned. Several of my friends had Gears 2 and Reach 1 or 2 days before release, played online and were fine. MS realise and are aware of retailers distribution of the game sometimes being a bit off.
You only get banned if you have the game a week or so before release, because retailers never make that big of a mistake.
I haven´t had any problems yet. I played Gears 3, Halo Anniversary, Assassins Creed and a few other games early.
But Halo 4 is such a huge and important game. And now that I hear about all the measures Microsoft and 343i are taking to ban people who play the leaked version (which are basically really great!), I got a little worried.

this.
Microsoft will threaten all online retailers to not break street date but some will get it early as the retailers wont wait till 1 day before release to ship all their copies.
I have never heard of anyone getting banned for playing a legit copy online early.
I got halo 3 a good few days in advance and played online and MS did not smite me.

I’ve been told by MS Customer Support that you will in-fact get banned for playing online. I’d be careful OP.
Apparently it doesn’t matter if it’s a legit copy or not, you’re still not supposed to play it before the street date.

There has to be a cut off point though, review copies of the game will be sent to reviewers up to a week before the release date. Can’t really give a full opinion of a game if we can’t use all of it’s features.
Its funny how you legally purchase a game and -Yoink!- bans you lol
OP, If you do happen to play it before the release date do not, and i mean DO NOT log in to XBL before the release date with it on your played games list or if you have an achieves in it.
A Friend Illegally/Legally probably illegally had ODST 2-3 weeks before launch and played it and even tried to get into multiplayer to no avail, he was not banned for playing it online but rather for having a modded/chipped Xbox to play it on rofl.
Also many instances of them not caring if they are 1-4 days pre lauuch…
P.S he had his xbox banned not GT.
