Playing Halo since 2002 and I'm a casual.

Halo will always have a place on my game shelf. I still own a unopened copy of Halo CE (original) and every single Halo game (sadly Halo wars is included) and just about every book. Halo to me is about the universe and the stories it tells while keeping me up late at night trying to finish a mission or just trying to get that last double kill of the night.

These forums are so full of “competitive” players and it makes me sick that they are constently trying to downplay casuals. I consider myself a casual Halo player. Why? I do not care about rank, kill death ratio, win ratio, or even how I do in multiplayer. Do I enjoy winning and coming out on top? hell yes. No other game makes you feel like a badass every match if you are the mvp. Just knowing you helped your team win a game or just making the enemy team feel like they forgot how to play Halo is extremely satisfying.

I have a 1.73 kdr, I win more than 2/3 of the matches I play and you know what? I don’t even give a crap. Does kdr really matter? You can have a person with a 3.0 do just as bad as someone with a 1.0. I’ve seen it. Hell me and my buddies made a team composed of 2.0s and above quit within 2 mins last night. Not hard considering its Halo Reach. If your all for stat padding and bragging there is nothing wrong with that. Games will always have this.

Back in my “good” days of playing Halo 2 at events I was semi-pro and was offered spots on MLG teams which I turned down because I actually can’t stand MLG. You may ask why but it would takes too long to explain. Everytime I get matched up with a player like “MLG x Sterotypicalgamertag v2” they are never MLG. I’ve played with MLG players. MLG are freaking amazing players who can hand me my -Yoink- these days considering Halo is no longer a religion to me in my high school years.

I’ve been really looking foward to Halo 4. I’m praying it will correct the sour taste Reach left me with. What I can’t stand is competitive players trashing casuals and vice versa. This is Halo 4 were talking about. It has been 5 years since I’ve been this excited for a Halo game and my friends included. Shouldn’t we meet together at the middle? The community is what made Halo in the past. Its time we acted like it.

Most of us were 12-13 years old when we first played Halo. Lets show the newer generation of Halo payers what it all about. Lets bring back the good days of fairness and respect which I experienced in Halo CE lans and Halo 2/3 online. Back to being number 1 on xbox live. Halo made Xbox. Lets not let it unmake it.

This topic=WIN.

Cooooooooool.

Now lets see.

Nope, still can’t see why I care. Good for you, though. I guess you won’t be participating in many topics concerning competitive Multiplayer.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m fine with casuals. As long as they don’t try to, y’know, go around butting their point of view into the competitive side of gaming.

The topic=win?

Usally when I post in online forums I’m meet with insults and a flame war starts. Its the internet considering. lol.

I’m all for a ranked playlist fyi. I enjoyed ranked more than social in Halo 3. Reach never felt as good as Halo 3 because of this. Halo reach never felt like it has true skill involved.

Do I care if I have a high rank? Maybe. I like seeing where I rank at with the rest of the world.

FFS Casal≠non competitive

I’m not really a grammar expert nor can I really type what I’m trying to think most of the time. 5 years since a english class so I’m extremely rusty. Took AP english and writing and past with a B so I’ve gone downhill.

When ever I’m meet with insults and flame wars it just keeps me from posting online and I get a urge to reach through the internet and choke a -Yoink-.

Proving them OP’s post.

Stay classy, (Judgemental) “hardcore” players.

It was a question of length, not quality or style. I just found it surprising it wasn’t two short paragraphs. I mean this in a good way however.

SPK, I was 16 when CE saved the Xbox, LAN’d with regional gods of the south.
Ingested gallons of dew and pounds of pixie sticks in the late nights that were Halo2/3.
Put it down when I touched reach, there is a one year gap in my service record.

I honestly think what people around here need to realize is that either comp or casual, we all care enough about the game to be on these forums. But as far as agreeing to disagree… I just don’t see it happening, it’s an entitlement attitude even though its their opinion, most folks around here are very hard line as if their opinions are fact simply because they gave rise to it.

Well said sir.

Really can’t add much else because you’ve pretty much nailed everything that I feel on the subject.

+100 Respect.

Then my defination and yours are entirely different. I play maybe 2-3 times a month. I play online using my phone’s internet via tethering (4g lte) which I really don’t like playing halo through. Battlfield 3 mostly and thats it. If I play online for a long run its 20 miles down the road at a buddies house.

Considering how much I play Halo I am casual.

> sadly, including Halo Wars.

People need to stop acting like Halo Wars was a bad game. For a console RTS, it was actually pretty well done.

What’s wrong with Halo Wars?
It had a good story and as far as RTS games go, it was very well done. Especially considering it was on console and not PC.

You know, I care about my stats somewhat and I want to win but at the end of the day it does matter as long as the game is fun. I can’t stand playing with people who get mad if there not winning or are obsessed with ther stats. You win some you lose some. You play good some you play bad some.

Considering that console RTS’s usually didn’t work as well compared to PC due to Hotkeys and what not, Halo Wars did fine. While i am far an RTS nut high on Star Craft 2, i played it and enjoyed it for what it was. Not your traditional Halo game, that’s for sure. Perhaps that’s why it’s not as well liked to some people.

Agreed, as far as console exclusive rts goes it was -Yoink!- brilliant.

Ok ok. Now I get what your getting at. I tried not making it too long but my simple mind just kept typing. Oh well.

Was Halo wars a good game, yes. I played and finished it just for the story. haven’t touched it since.

I’m not a fan of RTSes and pretty bad at them when it comes to online. I was not trying to say Halo wars was bad. Its just not my cup of tea. Hell one of my best friends is ranked 6th in world in it last time I checked with him.
