So at the moment if some of you aren’t aware, they recently took region lock off again last week. At the moment you cannot enjoy the game if you are connected to a US server (which happens 90% of the time) just for reasons like shots not registering, grenades coming out a second after you throw them, going back to pick up a weapon because you thought it would register it the first time. All those things add up to one of the most frustrating times I’ve ever played in Halo 5, and the weird thing is 343 didn’t announce when they originally put region lock on, or when they took it off last week. You could look on the other side and say that you cannot find games in certain playlists even at peak times like FFA and breakout, which is true and is probably the main reason they put it back on, alongside the pressure from the European pro players saying get rid of it (which I can’t understand as they don’t play American teams due to time and CONNECTION reasons?)
I think what the majority of us are looking for is an answer, or at least some sort of statement saying something is being done, because it has made my downtime on my favorite game a really bad time.

Yeah I’m in London and Arena really isn’t enjoyable anymore, it’s a shame. I never had trouble finding games here with region lock on, unless it was very early morning or if it was FFA/Breakout in which case it would just take a bit longer to find a game. I’d rather wait longer to play a game which will be fair for all who are playing it, than play one where my shots don’t register and the game becomes frustrating rather than enjoyable.
Yeah the game is just pure hell atm.
It genuinely upsets me too, especially considering I’ve been with xbox and halo since Halo CE, it just feels like a slap in the face. Maybe I’m taking it too seriously but H5 is literally the only multiplayer console shooter I enjoy these days. When it’s ok like it was with region lock on (which was still a little bit funky) it’s an incredible game. Please fix it 343i, or at least just acknowledge your EU fan base on the matter.
I think it’s because some of the more known players in Europe were crying out for it to being removed, while on one case that it does find you games quicker in the less popular gametypes, I never really had a problem with Arena or Slayer after they made tweaks the first time. The only problem I had with it is coming across the same team over and over again but I’d rather deal with that which is a good connection for both parties, rather than it being a one sided connection which is generally unfair.
Another thing that confused me was when I was in a lobby the other day, and I know for a fact that 7 out of the 8 players in that lobby were European, yet still the single American picks up host? Genuinely confusing and ridiculous.
They need to reverse the changes, know it sounds harsh but I would rather some of us play proper games without lag and some don’t find any at all than us all have terrible connection.
Love it when NA dudes take 5 shots to the head just to lose their shields and a 6th shot to die while regular enemies take 4 shots to the head and then they’re dead.
Or when you get a sniper and put 3 shots to their head and they still have not lost their shields because apparently i did not hit them.
Or when i try to splatter NA dudes and they just stand still and end up boarding me after i rammed them with full speed.
And what i love more than anything is when they think that they are better than you and end up teabagging you.
I feel the same. Haven’t even bothered playing today, some games are just so awful that it’s not fun. I feel like quitting halfway through, as there’s so many “WTF” moments. I have full shields, they’re one shot, shoot them in the head several times, they shoot me a couple and I’m dead. Happens all the time, it’s just awful.
Guys there’s the thread “dedicated servers EU” that’s almost 200 pages long, I’d encourage you to post in that as we should keep it going. 343 have royally screwed us over, it’s really not good. It took months of asking to get a region lock, even though we never asked for that. We wanted a preference, but now they’ve just taken it away again and said nothing. It’s disgusting.

It’s no fun for NA players either. EU players teleport around lagging like crazy on NA servers. It shouldn’t be an option because I never want to play in any game where that happens. Region lock is a must.
