Playing Ce is so smooth..

The pistol, the movements, the campaign spaces and story. Everything flows so well its hard to imagine that this game is so old.

The campaign IMO is leagues better than Reach, and astronomically better than halo 3s.

I think halo 3 was the worst out of all the halo campaigns. Not that it mattered cause the multiplayer was amazing. But we can officially say that Ce is just THAT great and nostalgia is not a factor.

I don’t know about Halo CE feeling the best campaign wise. It felt mostly like I was going through cramped little tunnels though, but that’s probably because of the old game-engine, which couldn’t take extremely open spaces. I also noticed that in CE, if a power weapon was in an area, then you couldn’t really get past that area without using it while in Reach it is more of an option compared to being a necessity. While it is more restrictive, it also made the gameplay more intense and difficult (Not sure yet if that is good or bad).

Your opinion can’t change the FACT that Halo CE is classed as a “Classic” game. You cant change the FACT that 99.9% of people think that the Halo CE campaign is the best. It IS the best, i think Halo Reach follows closely behind.

It’s definitely pretty amazing. In defense of Halo 3’s campaign it had, in my opinion, some great levels like The Ark and The Covenant.

There’s a bit of frame rate issues because of the old engine.

Outdoors combat - CE
Bridge battles against Covenant - CE
Consistency - CE
Balanced/fair weapon sandbox - CE
Leader class enemies - CE
Glitches - CE
Physics (gameplay) - H3
Physics (tricking) - CE
Exploration - CE
Easter eggs - CE

AI - CE:- Jackals - H3

  • Hunters - H3
  • Marines - CE
  • Elites - CE
  • Grunts - CE
  • Flood - CE
    CE beats H3.

Yeah, it really does have a nice smoothness to it.

However I think Halo 3 is easily the best out of them all.

The campaign is no better than the ones of the 3 previous Halos, why? no 4 player co-op, netcode kinda sucks, no teather mdoe, no scoring… and well, thats all

I have to disagree. With Halo 2 and 3 existing now, looking back Halo CE wasn’t that great. Halo 2 is what defined modern Halo. Even though I’ve started playing since the first game, I’d have to throw nostalgia aside and say that Halo 3 was my favorite so far. Hopefully Halo 4 will change that.

I also was surprised how much Anniversary felt like a modern game. That being said, I think Reach’s campaign is better. Halo 3’s campaign as well.

Halo’s campaigns are just the best in FPS… all of them.

CE campaign was, and still is one of the best FPS gameplay-wise.

lol, CE had the most repetitive levels ever

  1. PoA- was narrow repetitive corridors.
  2. Halo- was great.
  3. TaR- was cool then it had narrow repetitive corridors.
  4. SC- was good except for the repetitive narrow corridors at the end.
  5. AotCR- was just endless repetitive corridors and indistinguishable rooms, except for nice outside levels.
  6. 343GS- started out good then get repetitive inside.
  7. TL- repetitive annoying Flood hell
  8. TB- same as AotCR except now with Flood
  9. Keyes- same as TaR except with Flood
  10. TM- same as PoA except now with Flood and cool ending

Agreed. But It barely happens during the game. I’ve seen It drop FPS for a while then goes back up again. Most likely the old engine is coded for the ORIGINAL XBOX and on top of that, we got the new Engine running at the same time.

If you put the ORIGINAL Halo: Combat Evolved in your Xbox 360, most likely you will see a lot of Frame Rate issues.

Halo 3 is one of my favourite campaigns. it goes hand in hand with CE. trailing close behind is halo 2.

At the bottom of the list is Reach. no, wait, Halo wars. not that they were bad, just not the best. I can learn to love them, just not as much as the trilogy.

Reach’s campaign disappointed me beyond measure. Maybe because I spoiled myself a bit too much, but what I was expecting was far more. I wanted large battles, the feeling that I was DEFENDING humanity’s last resort. What I felt was a bit of a watered down version. Long Night of Solace was awesome, however, but so many parts could have been improved and bettered.

CE’s campaign is awesome. I played it endlessly when I was younger. I was finishing off Two Betrayals just today, and still find it rather challenging. One drawback is that now since I’m older, the repetitive bits of the campaign are starting to loom, while when I was smaller I didn’t really care, as long as their was Covies and I had my pistol.

This is exactly what keeps me from finishing, and now even starting the campaign. Going through all that repetition just isn’t the same anymore. Anniversary will temporarily change that once I get my new Xbox, but I feel like once I find all the terminals and get all the achievements, it will just end up as another collector’s piece.

H3 had the second best campaign of the series.
