Playing as a girl does have its benefits

My secondary XBL account is Jessica Jung xo.

Obviously it’s a girl’s name so one would guess that they are playing with a girl. But then again, do we really use our real full names in our gamertag? My name is not Jessica Jung, (google her if you don’t know who she is) and I am definitely not a female, the gamertag was created as a dedication to one of the most beautiful women (IMO) in the world.

Anyway, back on topic, because many assume (by many, I’m referring to 12-16 yr old boys) I am a girl, I’ve noticed a HUGE difference in treatment online, and I’ve been playing Halo online since Halo 2 debuted. With my buddies, I obviously talk and strangers automatically know I’m a guy, but when I keep quiet, it’s like a whole new experience:

Players give me priority for weapons and vehicles, players regularly shoot me friend requests in the pregame lobby before the match even starts (0 of those requests have been accepted), and I’ve received countless postgame voice and text messages of “good game” and “you’re really good”. Things unheard of when I play on my main account…

Well, that’s all I have to share. So keep an eye out if you ever come across me on my secondary account because I’m “really good for a girl”

I am highly offended by the 12-16 year old assumption, I don’t do this crap.

my first GT was niheloim. got tired of playing with my wife as a guest back in the days of Halo 2, so we picked up a second GT for her ms niheloim. She would get the same weird friend requests. But she’d also get a lot of horrible profanity thrown her way too. Mute was our friend back then.

SONEs on waypoint? Who knew?

She can sing too you know

I haven’t been playing much with my account, but I never had sexist profanity thrown at me. I’m sorry for your experience.

But your peers do.

I wish I could go knock some sense into them. Sadly, there is no way to put my hand through LIVE.

I guess that is a benefit?

it’s just a message. and it’s basically flirting with you… lol

Moral of the story: change gamertag to something girly and enjoy the new found respect

I wish that were the majority of my experiences.

Because it is no secret that an overwhelming majority of males play video games compared to females.

Funny thing, that seldom happens to my girlfriend these days, probably because she’s to good at the game and all the kids/young boys believe she’s a guy doing the same thing as OP :stuck_out_tongue:
Desperate younglings controlled by their own raging hormones, or desperate old ones but still the same, the mere thought of playing wit a female is enough to make their day :stuck_out_tongue:

Back in Halo 3 people to my experience always said good game or sent a message, to guys and gals alike, but almost never in Reach for some strange reason (it happens in Homefront though). Maybe it’s the new mentality enforced by Reach, CoD and such games, there is no “team” in winning, but there is two “i”. People only care for themselves and their k/d, and don’t give a blam! about the team, or even winning

What the hell? A wild S:heart:NE in the Halo community? I must add you as a friend!

^this made my day…

From what i have seen from playing COD, BF or Halo females get bullied. I’ve seen them getting harrased, teabagged repeatedly and told to go to the kitchen. It’s funny what 10 to 18 year old boys think. Especially when they lose
