There is a glitch where sometimes you can’t mute people. If you start a party it has the same effect as mute all.
As for them being unaware; it could be a kinect mic or they are aware.

THanks for the suggestion! But I have already tried this on multiple occasions and it has had the same results.
I rember in the good ol halo 3 days where if you wanted to talk you had to push down on the dpad so such things didn’t happen.
Nowadays it dead silent. Really awkward. It’s funny that most people say their mics are broken yet the bog standard set of headphones you get with any phone 99% of the time have an inbuilt mic.

but in reality that’s a terrible idea because now when you want to use callouts you have to sacrifice either your ability to move or aim to do so.

LOL it’s just the NSA turning on their kinect mic’s without them knowing. Once we know what terrorists sound like crunching potato chips, we’ve got them by the balls.

Probably lol, but I don’t believe that everyone has a broken mic. In this current day of age, there are a plentiful amount of mics.
You can always just start a party by yourself and not hear anyone else in the game

yeah, I dont think it was in regular slayer only like big team battle and what not
Just start a party by yourself then you cant hear them, unless thats just me
When you get in a game press the scoreboard button then press x, it will mute everyone.
I usually just go into a party by myself and put it on invite-only so I can’t hear it if I can’t mute it.

I recall an issue where you were not able to mute “kinect” users. I remember messaging a player as the room he was in had dogs barking, kids screaming, wife divorcing him etc lol.
He didn’t realise his mic was active, to his credit he apologised and turned it off. It might be a kinect user you’re hearing, I don’t know if that was ever patched.
Start a party plug a mic in and you don’t have to worry about it. Plus you can mute them?

Similar in H2 where you had to press the white button for team speak.
For the OP, try hitting the mute all button and see if that works.
I always mute my mic because I get bullied for being youthful. If it’s not muted I have a breakdown because I feel so embarressed xD.
