So I just finished a game of Slayer, and one of my teammates left the game as soon as the enemy team got 2 kills ahead of us. Though it really does tick me off when people leave games like that, (especially in arena) I understand that people can have connection issues sometimes or have more important and immediate things to attend to. With that being said, I don’t think that was the case for the player who left… I just think it’s really unfair that I get ranked down when the game is an almost guaranteed loss and still I choose to stay so I don’t get banned or get an even bigger loss penalty, it gives people no real incentive to want to stay when they’ll just get ranked down anyway.
I honestly think that if a player leaves your team in the early stages of the game, maybe before 10 kills, you shouldn’t receive a loss penalty for that game or get ranked down. That’s my opinion anyway, anyone agree?
I try to stay as much as I can when that happens, though it really takes the fun out of playing Arena. Especially when you rank down.
Unfortunately it is part of FPS
I have to disagree if that was implemented it would turn into boosting in a way, you could just have a friend on a smurf account play with you and if you get close to losing legitimately he quits and you get to keep your csr.

Did you even read to the end? I said if they leave in the early stages, “maybe before 10 kills” or whatever works better.
This has been brought up before.
What do you suggest should be done to prevent the glaring explotation issue? Teams with a smurf account that quit the instance things may go down hill, even before the ten first kills.
What about the winning team? Should they be rewarded normally? Or not?
Yes, I know the feeling of being down a player or two and losing. It’s infuriating. There’s a thing you need to remember about your rank though. Statistically you are as likely to lose a match because someone quit your team, as you are likely to win a match because someone left the enemy team.
I did a test run on this, with a measly shy 20 Team Arena matches. Out of 20 matches there were 6 matches with quitters and AFKers. All six matches were losses for the team that the quitter / afker was on. Half of those matches, three matches, were losses for me. The rest of those six, the three remaining matches, were wins for me. So, even with a low number of iterarions I did get the expected result, I won as much as I lost because of quitters.
I think that instead of that if a team is playing with a handicap they should get all of the xp and req points that the player who quit would have gotten split between the remaining members of the team
To be honest if you’re playing in a team of 4, and all your teammates leave you to the point where it’s 1v4, you shouldn’t be penalized for leaving after them. I have no reason to stay and keep fighting and it’s just wasting time.
I just played Assault on Team Arena and on my team was a party of 3. They all left after the enemy got 2 scores, meaning it was me against 4 and all I could do was let them win!
if 25% or more of the players quit within the first two minutes the game should stop, no points, no win/loss, the remaining players get placed back in the lobby.

And if the game is stopped then the previous quitters are insta-banned.

they can make it so if someone in your fire team leaves, your csr will be affected, but if you aren’t in it then your csr will be affected less (calculation based on time before leave and game status). this will eliminate stat boosting.
however, a better option would be to add a check to pit players against each other based on how often they leave a game before its done.

This is one of the best solutions I’ve heard to any issue of this sort, if not the best.
People will have no reason to cheat this system and quit intentionally because of no rewards/penalties, and sincere players don’t have to worry about frustrating 4v3 matches anymore. Amazing suggestion!

I completely agree. Pit habitual quitters against each other, or better yet match them to the same team whenever possible. Problem solved. And people who finish their matches consistently would get to either play full games or at least have the habitual quitters on the opposing team.

Exactly what I mean you could just have a smurf account leave and then you don’t have anything to lose. I did read you post hence why I disagree with it and already thought of the biggest thing that would go wrong with it.

If that was the case you would have to make it so they didnt have a win bonus as well… which means the whole team would quit, so you might as well just cancel the game if someone leaves which I dont think anyone wants.

Even if your suggestion only applied if someone quit early into the match, it still is possible to exploit that system. Designate a “sacrificial lamb” of sorts on your team, and if the match doesn’t start out the way you want early on, have that person quit so the rest of the team doesn’t rank down.
I do think the game needs revision to either prevent quitting or promote staying, but I don’t think your idea is the solution, OP.
