Players Sweating in Quickplay

I thought the purpose of this playlist was for people to get familiar with the game not for people to be SK strafing and trying their heart out. I hope it doesn’t turn into Overwatch’s Quickplay too… But instead I’m matching south of the California border sweats. Who have no clue what it means to sweat in a ranked playlist.

I seriously hopped onto this playlist to warm up not get pooped on by wanna be pros who eat shots

Just because someone is good at the game doesn’t mean they should be banned from a playlist.

I think it’s two issues. The first being some people think they’re just gonna match newbs so they can stomp on them which means they’re going to try harder. The second issue is that it’s social so you’re going to get a variety of skill levels. You might run into someone who seems like they’re trying hard, but it’s just due to the skill difference and they’re most likely playing average.

In this game, to not sweat essentially means playing not to win. If you’re not trying to win, it’s gonna feel like the other team is sweaty if they’re halfway decent players. The only way you can play a game and not sweat is if the competition is so far below you that even playing not to win, you’re that much better than them.

You’ll find sweaty players no matter what playlist you search.

You’re mad because someone is better at the game? Hmm…

I know they said that Quickplay was intended for newer players, but intentions seldom seem to count for much in this game. People are attracted to any playlist or game type that they think might have loose search restrictions or be new enough that hidden ranks are not yet accurate. This is the way Halo has always been and to its credit, Halo 5 is less bad in this regard than any previous Halo. But even with matchmaking doing its best, Halo 5 is sweat and there’s no getting away from it in any playlist at any time.

Hmm, I wonder why it’s always the people with high rank or K/D that complain about sweats?
Must be some kind of crazy coincidence! Makes me wonder, also… how bad could you really be “getting pooped on” with an overall 1.5 K/D :stuck_out_tongue:

Sweat? I just go there to warm up lol and by no means am I sweating. The skill gap between me and newbies is just too big so for them it’s gonna feel like i’m sweating when in reality they are. I’ve been messaged for sweating in that playlist while kicking back, drinking and listening to music not even trying at all. Halo 5 just has a big learning curve and the difference between ranks is a big enough skill gap to notice. A lot of people like me that have been playing Halo 5 since release are probably doing the same thing they just want to chill out instead of having to try hard in hcs playlist. It’s hard for us to do that these days since almost all the other playlists that are just ar’s and pistols are practically dead.

IMO, if Quickplay was truly for new players to get acclimated to the game like they stated, 343 should have limited the SR to 30 and below. I don’t think you would be considered a new player at Platinum SR 66 with a 1.5 K/D.

Then people would just use smurf accounts. What it really needs is a hidden ranked matching system instead of using a social matching system.

That’s true but at least they have a greater chance of getting the feel of the game without constantly getting slaughtered. I totally agree with the matched system. Maybe we could get more fan’s of Halo that will hang around for a while. I have a friend with a couple of kids with game pass, they played 5 games and won’t play anymore because they got hammered so bad… lol

Yeah… the first time I tried this playlist out just to warm-up and it was a mistake. I felt so bad because I was scrapping these kids so bad. I went like 30 and less than 10 deaths. This new kid only got one kill and a whole bunch of deaths. I apologized to the kid and left. Never played the playlist again

Point is… if you’ve been around for a while- please stay off this playlist. That includes you OP!

This is because quick play is using skill based matchmaking. You’re getting the same kind of opponents you would get if you just played ranked team slayer.

You might get matches where there’s a huge skill difference because the playlist has a low population count, but that’s it. I’m constantly getting matched with champs and onyx players because I’m at high enough of a bracket that the game thinks it’s more acceptable to put me there than say, a Plat 3 player. It’s a nightmare.

TLDR;
This is not a social playlist, it’s a ranked playlist without a visible rank, and it does not need to exist in it’s current state. If you want a nice casual experience play BTB, otherwise wait until Halo 6 and hope 343 listens to the endless outcry about H5 being too sweaty.

Where did you read that at because last I read it’s using social matching?

I would ask you the same question, where did you read that it uses “social matchmaking” aka connection-based?
Because I can tell you that judging by every match I tried to play throwing me with people who are over 1000 miles away, it’s not using connection-based.

“Social” is not “connection based” at all. It just means it finds the first 8 people ready to play and puts them together without taking skill into account. Connection has absolutely ZERO bearing on that.

Luke is correct in that Quick Play’s MMR restrictions are virtually nonexistent. The playlist is intended for new people to hop in and find games quickly. It’s not intended to be a playlist where MMR and skill level are taken into account. That’s what Team Slayer is for.

Fair enough.

However, if the matchmaker is just “throwing the first 8 people ready to play” into the lobby with connection having “zero bearing” on the matchmaking?
That’s a serious accusation and the kind of thing that often incites public outcry.

It puts people in the game that use the same or close servers to you. If you or someone else uses the expanded option though, you could potentially match someone from a farther away server.
