Currently going through placement matches in ranked (PC, 2v2 with a friend) as we are both level 40 some players get intimidated and alt+f4 after seeing our ranks but before the game has launched (during hero selection phase), effectively allowing players to select what ranks they want to play against. I think the matchmaking system should be altered to stop abuse, do not show player names or ranks until the game is locked and leaving will penalise the quitters.
I’m not sure how it works on PC, but in Xbox you can’t quit unless you straight up close the game, and I don’t think the devs could program something to diference a dude closing the game from the game crashing.
OP is saying to hide ranks from pre-game lobby. That would prevent people from dashboarding or alt-F4 whenever they see ranks they don’t want to play.

I agree. It has to make you feel good that people are afraid of you at least lol.

It’s humerous how MCC was 99% dodging, so 343i hid ranks in Halo 5, and then didn’t in Halo Wars.

It’s a legit strategy just like the one you use in baseball games to dodge a too powerful batter. Shame yes, but legit.
Weird that players get punished for resigning and not dodging.
As someone who now does this, even I agree ranks should be hidden, or at least give people the option to hide them if they choose.
I gave both low ranks on my team and high ranks on the enemy team many chances. The reason I now dodge is because it’s always the same. My team WILL get stomped. Even if I’m ready for a rush that most high ranks seem to do, my teammates never are. In blitz, my low rank teammates never collect energy, and either send their units in to die 1 at a time, or sit back and do nothing. I go into matchmaking hoping for equal ranks on each team. I don’t enjoy going up against noobs only because those games are boring. It would be nice to have a fair and consistent matchmaking system…
edit: I’m just talking about normal games, not ranked.
