Players leaving ranker matches

Players leaving your team in ranked matches leaves with less players than the other team. It’s totally unfair and you can’t leave yourself or you lose rank and get banned so you have to go through the whole thing anyways knowing you’ll most likely lose.

It is frustrating that players do not take ranked games seriously, I understand that we all want to have fun and have a good time but if you start a ranked game you know that they are very serious and the players play 200%. In the end, it only remains to see how they sanction the players who disconnect often and ruin how we enjoy the game

There is a similar topic in the MCC forums right now. In MCC it is safe to leave without penalty after half of your own team has left, though the game never tells you that. I wonder if the same applies to Infinite, or will apply in the future.

I recommend going further and letting the remaining players on the smaller team vote to surrender the game. They would likely already lose, so it just saves everyone involved some time and lets them move on to the next match quickly.

A vote to tie option for all players might also be good, though I suspect many in ranked would like to push every advantage they can. Still there are those who think that a win where the other team had quitters is not a true win and would rather settle for a tie out of respect for those who chose to remain in the game.

Just some ideas…

Yeah I’ve « left » 3 ranked matches so far: the game crashed 3 times on PC in 4 hours. That’s more than I ever crashed playing 2 months of Cyberpunk 2077. The best part is that 343 gives you a derank because their game isn’t stable enough. If you lose a 3v4, you shouldn’t be deranking (at least I’ve never deranked when I had someone leave). We can only hope that since this is a Beta, it’ll be fixed by the time the full game comes out.

Just kidding, this most likely won’t be fixed or prioritized because it doesn’t directly affect the cash shop. Bummer.

I mean… if they leave they get punished too, right? So… there’s nothing else to do here, except maybe ‘repeat offenders banned for rank season’ or something. (which SHOULD be a thing)

But it’s also going to mean ranked players go into quick match more, and your going to get stomped by ‘try hards’ when you just wanna goof around.

Ranked always works this way. Your supposed to ‘get a group’ and go in, not solo Q.

As for ranking/de-ranking. De-ranking should be a thing to an extent. I am not sure how far it goes, but if your “class 1” about to be class 2, you should never go back to pre-class 1. just start over at class 1. (you have to prevent the smurfing or the game gets ruined fast for those new to ranking)

For those that don’ t know, smurfing is where an experienced player intentionally loses rank, so they play against lower ranks and can win again repeatedly. This fundamentally doesn’t do anything for them - as they never get to “the top ranks” but they mostly don’t care for that - they just want to steam roll lower tiered players and feel like they are good, instead of fighting those that they are the same rank as. Having a de-rank system (or, a free to play rank system) always has these players, and when you start as a new player wanting to try rank out - chances are your going to fight someone “your rank” you just got to, who is so, so much better than their rank indicates, your going to lose, it won’t be close, and it won’t be fun for you.

This is usually where new ranked players stop ranked play as well - as “why bother, it’s not fun” - so it’s not something to be ignored either.

And obviously right now… there are way toomany crashes to desktop. so i can’t for sure say ‘everyone quit’ when I literally crash 3-5 times an hour (way up from pre patch by the way) and there is no real warning. My PC isn’t running hot, nothing is being maxed out, my RAM CPU an dGPU all report fine - but "booP* now I freeze and crash for no known reason. The worst part is - no crash log, so I can’t even troubleshoot WHY it is crashing. Even if it were my GPU, or CPU or some strange thing with either of the HDD or SSD I have tried it on.

I think they still have some stability issues to work out as I had to guys leave a ranked placement match but I think they just d/ced as they were definitely trying when I checked the scoreboard. I froze myself in one match and got booted too so my placement was screwed.

Sometimes that isn’t always possible, but you still have that itch to play. We don’t have a solo ranked queue (like Halo 3’s Lone Wolves) right now, so what else are people to do?

There needs to be strong disincentives for quitting. I sympathise with those who have connection issues, particularly during this “beta” and perhaps when 343 decide the came is full released (8th December or beyond) the quit bans should be reset. Sometimes life gets in the way and there are times you just have to leave, so I also think the first instance should be a brief ban (10 minutes or so) but consecutive or persistent leaving should result in longer and longer bans.
