While I haven’t had a problem with the XP cap myself as of yet (since I’m losing interest in Halo 4 ten times faster than I did with Reach), I can understand why so many people want it removed.
We paid for your game 343, so we should be allowed to play it for as much as we want to.
343 should not be allowed to dictate how long a person playes Halo 4 online, this will only cause people to lose interest in playing online a lot faster, and so far 343’s track record with Halo 4 isn’t pretty (with the whole custom gametypes problem).
I know some people on these forums always respond with “go outside” or “play something else”. But if someone buys a game they should be able to play it as much as they want.
Could you imagine a game like Fallout 3 with a cap? Where after a certain amount of time the game will just lock-up, prevent you to keep experiencing the game? I don’t think so.
Too be honest 343 has put this in place not so that we do something besides play Halo 4 all day, but to give the multiplayer more longevity.
Think about it. In most FPS games that have a leveling system, you could fly through the levels if you play the game all the time.
So 343 must of seen this and slapped a XP cap on Halo 4 to make the time it takes to get to the max level even longer.
But this is wrong, as it restricts us from experiencing a game that we paid for.
If 343 is to keep Halo alive, then they have to listen to the community (especially this forum).
Otherwise I have a feeling it’s going to be downhill for Halo from here.
I agree with you! +1 Also, In China, they limit how much time you can play a game per day, being as people have literally died playing for 3-4 days straight. But Halo players aren’t as lazy? so hopefully no one will die lmao
One more thing. This is a direct quote from Bsangel. “In the coming weeks, we will be monitoring how many players are hitting the cap so we can respond accordingly.”
Hopefully that means the cap will be gone very soon =X
On days that i have classes I cant play very much, but on days where i don’t have classes, i want to make up the XP i missed, but I can’t because of the dumb XP limit. Makes me a sad panda…
EDIT: Hit the cap 3 times, now just to wait til midnight to play again… (im not wasting commendation XP because theres a cap)
The xp cap is why I quit reach. We played everyday until cap for 2 months. After 2 months we added up how much xp we were getting and how much we needed to finish the game and realized it was going to take us over a year before we finished. While the xp cap might work for some idiots that can’t do math, as soon as I unlock my other classes at 50 and do the math myself, I will probably quit this game also if its going to take over 6 months with this current cap. I have a awesome job that gives me a 3 month vacation (nov-jan) and was wanting to go all out with the time I have, not playing for 3 hours and quitting because I’m at cap already.
There is so much wrong with what you said. In no way is 343 keeping you from playing the game and in no way can you compare not earning XP to not being able to play a game like Fallout 3. The XP cap does not forcibly eject you from the game. You can either play for fun or quit for the day because a superficial rank means more to you than it should.
The XP cap should remain because it does not hinder anything about being able to play the game.

Was going to post this. It doesn’t make you unable to play the game. Just stop being so nieve about it and play for fun not rank.
lets be honest here, you guys hitting the cap should seriously consider getting out more or taking a break. i got out of work today and played for about 4 hours and wasn’t even close to hitting the cap. you guys are playing for about double that amount which is insane especially on a weekend
I hate morons that assume we have no lives if we hit cap. I have double xp. I hit cap in 3 hours. Also even if I wasn’t getting double I would still pull about 4k a game due to the fact I score so high. Also, nobody should be aloud to say how someone else should have fun. Some people have fun leveling, some just like to play. Some people like to camp while others hold forward. Telling people to just play for fun and not worry about xp is a dumb comment if those people are having fun by leveling. The point is other games like black ops add prestige levels so the game can be played for a long time. They don’t force an xp cap to try and keep players longer. While I am a huge halo fan, numbers don’t lie. After a year in halo you might find 75k people on and at the same time a 3 year old call of duty will still have a population if 250k. (This doesnt mean I have a hard On for Cod, i have enjoyed 1 of them) People that paid for the game are aloud to share opinions. Saying they have no life or telling them to go have “real fun” is stupid.
