It’s becoming really frustrating to play H5 arena, due to the renowned banning and ranking logics. It happens, lots of times, that you are forced to play 1 vs. 4 due to the disconnections or quitting of your teammates and to the fear of being banned for 1 hour even for one single quit. Does this make sense? What for?
It happens that your team lost but you, as a singular player, won on the other 7 players in terms of killings, deaths etc… but anyway your performance is considered low and your ranking suffers. Does that make sense? What for?
It seems that the single player ability and dedication is no more part of the game, since you win or loose only if part of a team, even if you kill 49 enemies alone and you loose by 1, your ranking goes down?? What the f…k???
Nonsense at all. Probably too difficult logics and algorithms to implement for 343?
This game had potential, and it’s being ruined by a weird and simple minded “social” approach that is unacceptable. There are lots of players that like to join occasionally, without being part of a company and without headsets and elite controllers, and that sometimes are good and kill more dying less. These ones deserve to be awarded and considered too, not to be tossed in the trash. How could anyone continue to play even if he already knows that he will loose ranking and points even if he’s the best player?
It’s really a childish approach by 343. Giving more credit to the personal ability and results could also solve some of the frequent quitting issues.
What do you think?

That 1v4 situation is awful :’(
When that happens I just quit anyway… someday I’ll experience the ban hammer’s wrath… but I’d rather be banned for 30 minutes than spend 15 minutes getting my -Yoink- kicked in a 1v4.
All in all, I agree that the “only rank up by winning” approach feels flawed. Would it be so bad to take personal contribution into consideration?

This. Is. Halo.
Imagine being on a professional baseball team halfway through the season and all other 7 position players get injured or traded. Your team won’t be shown any sympathy, and thus is halo. Team means everything and I love it.

Doubt it has to do with difficulty.
Rather, tracking individual performance promote selfish play over team play.

It is only flawed because their are -Yoink- lips that play teams, realize they are not that good, get frusterated and quit. This is a problem since H2 that includes any other multiplayer game that does not allow mid-game roster changes.
“Oh but CoD never had this issue and you could join in the middle of a match!”
Very good! There was also no real ranking system in CoD.
In a perfect world, when someone plays a team-based game they stay for the match and are prepared for it.
In sports a team doesn’t make it to the playoffs because they have one good player, so it doesn’t make sense to allow an individual player to rank up when the overall team did bad.
“This isn’t sports, Razz!”
Don’t sidetrack me by splitting hairs, inner voice!
If you want to guarentee a rank up in a team based playlist, get some friends or party up with some people and play with them.

So, in your baseball scenario even if you are an ace and the rest of your team is crap, your rank would remain crap and you’re doomed to be stuck in the amateur league all life long just because your team looses everytime right? C’mon,
