One small thing that bothers me a ton is the player name settings for the HUD. By default, teammate names are shown at all times along with teammate outlines, cluttering the screen immensely. I was delighted that I could turn them off, but that meant there was no way to identify my teammates by name. You can turn on Service Tag Only, but for some asinine reason it’s only for custom games?? And I can make player names visible for enemies that I’ve spotted, but not for teammates I’m looking at?
I fail to see what was wrong with the old system where the Service Tag was shown at a distance, then the full name of your teammate would appear if you look at them. Currently I’m forced to play alongside a bunch of nameless blueberries because I don’t want my screen cluttered with text.
I desperately hope whomever is working on HUD/UI at 343 at least adds a Service Tag Only option to Matchmaking, or if it already exists, please tell me.
