Player Customization: If you liked the level of armor customization options in Halo: Reach, you will be pleased
That’s good to hear, but holy -Yoink- it better feel as good to UNLOCK as classic reach! The god awful stupid battle pass track approach in the MCC for Reach and/or loot boxes (packs) from Halo 5 need to go*.* Very few said: “yes! this is exactly what i want, spend time unlocking items i do not care for.” I really don’t mind grinding for currency, as long as there’s a fun system around it…again…like original Reach had with the daily / weekly challenges.
Please 343i
I do find it kind of annoying that I can’t pick what I want to unlock and then pick from the rest later when I have some spare points from leveling up. Not to mention I’m wondering how the whole thing goes season to season with MCC’s Reach. So I hope that if we end up with a Reach like customization system, I hope it’s original Reach’s.
I don’t think they will implement MCC’s unlock system, unfortunately I think that system was a fault of time constraints and wanting to get Reach out ASAP. Infinite’s I’m hoping for a robust system where you can unlock certain things in different ways. Some unlocks through campaign and campaign difficulties, some from challenges, some from level, etc etc…
This is a hot-button lately. I’d love more than anything for the cR system to make a comeback. I don’t know that it’s super feasible in the modern gaming industry- although a lot of us longtime players don’t like it, MTX’s are here to stay, and we’ll need to accept it (to some degree) or quit rewarding devs with our buying dollars (not likely to happen on a large enough scale to reverse the trend, because everyone says they’ll boycott a game and then everyone pre-orders it or buys on day one anyways - I can admit I’m part of this problem).
I just hope they come up with a way for it to be about player choice and expression of personal taste. No linear unlock grind like MCC is doing and Halo 4 did; there’s nothing individualistic about being rewarded items like clockwork for simply having progresses to a certain point in the game.
Reach was great because it made players prioritize what armor they wanted to unlock at the expense of leaving other sets locked until they could grind the cR to buy those too (in the order they wanted). When you saw someone rocking a cool set of armor in Reach, you knew they’d put some time and thought into the way they were presenting themselves. It was cool. Sure, you had the usual annoying suspects who just wore the armor that had high-rank prerequisites simply because they wanted to show off. But it was less common in Reach.
I don’t want linear unlocks or the random dice-roll of H5 to come back for Infinite.
I liked the Reach/Halo-4 customization depth so I’m glad about that. Hopefully the unlocking process is also somewhat like Reach.
I would like a hybrid between Halo 3’s unlock system and Halo: Reach’s. It would be cool to unlock special armor pieces that you can’t unlock through credits with skulls, and vice versa for credit unlocks. It adds a little bit to the campaign when it comes to replayability, as well as a sense of discovery when you find a skull that it took you a long time to find, as well as a little reward along with it. It’s great to be able to play with your friends and choose the game host because he has the most / all the skulls. I think it would be pretty neat, and also allow the multiplayer grind to get the coolest armor you want the most.
You know, i’d like a hybrid between (probably going to get hate) halo:reach and 4. Now BEFORE you start, let me explain. Imagine customization for helmet, chest, shoulders, legs, lower arms, wrist, utility, visor, 3 color scheme, and armor effect +that stuff for elites. Now at first it may seem overwhelming, but if you just think on it for a while it kinda seems like a good number of stuff! At least for me… As for unlocking? Remember reach.

Yeah, the skulls sound pretty good.
Halo 4 had the best unlock syterm you got tokon for leveling up and spend it on the armours you want and when you completed the main progression you could chose your next set of progression and the cool armours were achievements unlocks like campaign on legendary. The only problem with halo 4 progression is the lack of good armour sets and not having millertery rank. Also they should make chiefs rank the top rank in the multiplayer and have option to use the elite rank

This is the way to go for me.
And if not then Reach cR is.
Halo 4 and MCC way to unlock armor isn’t what I want because you don’t choose what you want to unlock.
Just dont make it all RNG based please!

Really? Do you have proof about that, because if it’s true for MCC, it will be better.

They said it in one of the Frist MCC update post after reach realese
Hi it’s Illi… And I have a cold
…
If I were to design an unlock system, I would incorporate achievements in paths like a hierarchy of unlocks that are predetermined by your goal–say “Champion MLG FFA Player” hehe…
Then 343 could get together and make achievements and a path designed to help you reach the unattainable. With rewards for each achievement that are tangible and real instead of g-score.
If you fail, you can come back to it later a choose something like “Social Rumble Pit Dog” and settle for that.
Kind Regards,
Illi Out
I dislike the fortnite and call of duty unlock system’s and I will not be happy at all if they lock stuff behind a pay wall.

Problem is, what if a player wants that helmet but has to finish this achievement which is one of the most difficult one to get the said Helmet and after 30 try he (the player) don’t get it, he will be angry.
We have to make it fun and accessible to every player.
If for exemple we take Halo Reach 2010 way of unlocking armor with cR that you receive while playing campaign, firefight or multiplayer.
Why not reward achievements with an ammount of cR that will depends on the difficulty of the achievement. Easy ones won’t make you earn a lot but the hardest ones to get will give you plenty.
Hi it’s Illi,
There are an infinite number of ways to address this with a tier system. For example, if you want a fifth tier item you can get seven two tier unlocks. The possibilities are are not linear but octahedral Or, like I said, there are options.
Think about it.
Nevertheless, I value your input. I think the overall goal should be to get better. I see not attempting the same thing over and over again. I see a training shooting range, videos of tips and tricks, and jackpot cortana gifts for striving to succeed at goals.
Of course, I never made champ in ffa but I still play ffa. Maybe I could that unlock with a few
or onyx unlocks… Who knows but I know that if I had a team at 343 to work with, we could have it done by Christmas… Too many unknown variables is the only thing that makes it incomprehensible.
Kind Regards,
Illi
