player count

this honestly should have been a feature long time ago so why isn’t it?

343 doesn’t like to include player counters in their games. In fact, when they first took over Halo, they removed the player counter from Reach. Why? I can’t say.

Been wondering this myself. I’m always running into new players, so the population can’t be all that bad.

Bur as Cars said, 343 doesn’t like to put out player counts, for whatever reason. I doubt we will ever see a player count, unfortunately.

well i hope they get off that mentality its kinda needed. especially when youre on at certain times and wanna know how many people are on. its not like itll harm the game more than anything else thats happened to it

Personally I don’t see how is it a vital feature. I’d rather effort put into bug fixes and making spectator mode better before we add something like player count.

Repeat that last part out loud.

I guess they removed it because, they like keeping players in the dark about stuff.
Same reason Microsoft doesn’t tell you how many copies they sold

No, they never did that. Reach’s player counter has been temperamental for years. It gets fixed for a while and then breaks down again, but it was never outright removed

bugs and patches should come before 4k and player counts.

It’s filled with die hard halo wars players That’s all I care about!

And rushers can’t forget them…

This is supposedly part of the reason why they don’t include them. The rationale goes that if a player sees a low population in a playlist they will be less inclined to play it, forming a self fulfilling prophecy of sorts.

Whether that has merit to it or not I don’t know. It makes sense. There aren’t exactly good arguments for population counters either. Apart from people having a genuine interest in it of course. Most people (being honest here) simply want access to the data in hopes it would “prove” their preconceived ideas that the game is dead.

Personally, I’m on the fence on the issue.

agree, i know the game is dead but that does not make this a bad game.

I would say it’s far from “dead” but that’s a discussion for a different time

The game is certainly not dead. It has an active playerbase at all hours of the day, a dedicated following, and still receives support from its development team.

Pretty much the polar opposite of dead.

Never noticed they took it out in Reach.

I just laughed for like five minutes straight because it almost seemed like you did it on purpose.

I think that the active players of 2019 need to come together and invite more people to the game by that’s my opinion.
