One feature I feel needs to be added to mcc is a playlist player count. This is a very specific example, but I heard from someone (Ducain23) that you can play race in halo 2 anniversary action sack. Naturally, I hopped on and let it matchmake for about 30 minutes. I tried this again later to no avail. Now I am very happy with the filtering system in mcc for social playlists, it is amazing. But I wish I would be able to see how many possible matches there are for me before I start matchmaking or even after matchmaking has started. This would be much simpler for the competitive playlists as there is one set of possible matches for each one, and those also need a player count. I have wasted a lot of time trying to get into competitive matches and if there was a player count I am sure I would feel more confident in getting a match even if the number is low. Invasion seems to be the only playlist there I can find a match in.
I think they still have ptsd from seeing those halo 4 numbers, so we’re never getting one again.
I’ve read from other posts that a player count might end up diverting people away from that playlist. Even so, I would like to have one or a system at least, that lets me know that I don’t have to wait 30 minutes to find a game sometimes too. Maybe something that shows what is most popular at what times of the day.

An estimated wait time is a very reasonable compromise I would assume.

For me, the absence of account has actually deterred me from even trying some competitive playlist sometime. It makes me not even want to try the competitive Halo 3 and just go to the Social and use filters that will give me a match. I can see why a player count might be bad but there should be some indication of how long it would take to find a match. It might be cool if the most popular playlists are highlighted or something like that but those would probably become redundant as they might stay the same.
(Also I don’t know how to delete forum posts, that’s why the empty quote is still there)
This is a subject which will always have two opposing parties, no matter the Halo game.
Instead of a population counter, how about a match counter, letting players know if there are any available matches in that particular playlist? We still wouldn’t know the amount of players in the playlist, but would at least know there are no, or a few, matches to join.

I get that, the only time I ventured trying those playlists was to give Invasion another go. Took me ages to find a couple of games, and they were both with the exact same players in the lobby.
