Player Count

Hey 343, if there is any chance to include the number of players in each playlist at any given time, that’d be great. I want to know how many people are playing in a playlist and guess how long it will take to find a match. Or look at which Playlists have no one so I don’t wait 20 minutes to find a game. Anyone else feel the same way?

I am against player counts because all it does is encourage players to play the playlist with the biggest number and not necessarily the playlist they actually want to play.

Dr Menke said he doesn’t really like showing population numbers so I doubt it’s gonna happen.

If they showed player numbers the community would be able to gauge which playlist is worth waiting to find a match in. Also the game’s population is getting smaller and smaller making finding a match harder. Not to mention joining MIP is getting annoying.

Not like player counts would help because of MMR. I can’t even find wz games in the morning without having a stupidly long search time. Then the game turns out to be an awful one. It really puts me off playing the game

That’s the problem though. If they show the population numbers, everyone will migrate to the most popular playlists and it will be even harder to find a match in the less popular ones. It kind of forces people to play something they don’t want to just so they can get a game in.

Player counts would be fine if the game was popular, but in this instance, it would most likely have a negative impact.

As this fine Spartan mentioned, this is the result of showing population numbers per playlist, especially if the population is as small as people keep claiming. If I already know where I’m going to get games most of the time (historically, Slayer and BTB), I’m going to play that particular playlist most of the time. At least without population sizes displayed, I can at least trick myself into believing I have a decent chance of getting games in any playlist I jump into.

most games are getting away from population counters for the reasons listed above.

As somone who plays warzone assault and ffa, 2 of the lower populated modes. I’m glad there’s no counter.

I would however like to see them scrap the team arena playlist. Hcs should have replaced it, why do we need both?

Because they have different settings. People who mostly play Team Arena don’t like HCS settings (radar and whatnot), and people who play HCS don’t care for Team Arena settings (radar and whatnot). So it’s not really a case of one playlist cannibalizing the other. They’re able to coexist for the most part.
