So the player limit in Halo has always been 16 but Im wondering with the new Xbox One console could we possibly see a higher player count per game? Possibly having a BTB match at 10v10 would be nice and if it allows Id love to see even 20v20 games. Custom games would be pretty great too as the increased player count would allow a broader game selection for the party.
Are they able to do this with the new console or will in most likely stay 16 capped?
What you must always consider when making a suggestion is “will this benefit the core game that is halo and are you experienced and knowledgeable with the halo core game enough to be able to make sensible suggestions”… in this instance, i dont think you hit either mark, this isnt an insult, its just like a footballer making a suggestion to a scientist about his experiment, it doesnt really help the scientist.
Halo is NOT a big team game, its an arena fps with a focus on 4v4 skirmishes which needs more suggestions to benefit the core gameplay displayed in the first 3 halo games which i assume you didnt play very much. Let halo keep that niche and if you want big team, go play battlefield. I dont want more features and gameplay mechanics from other fps titles introduced into Halo, i want Halo to be halo.
Before you say about the game needing change, it doesnt need change that changes it into a different game, it needs changes that make it more like a halo game. Halo Reach and Halo 4 failed for not following this simple concept. Good day sir

Why do you think that is?
Halo 4 heavily caters to Big Team instead of 4v4. Look at Halo 3, Big Team was a big success in Halo 3, but the most populated game modes were Team/Social Slayer.
Ever since Reach, Big Team seems to have been the main focus, and since that Halo has moved further away from 4v4.
I for one, do not want more players in the lobbies. Let’s try to put focus back into 4v4 slayer, and not make a mess of it like Reach and 4.
Big, epic battles with 16v16, 24v24, 32v32 or bigger, on big maps, with many vehicles would be even more awesome in Halo than they are in military shooters, just like 4v4 or 6v6 matches are better in Halo
However for more team-oriented objective gametypes (like CTF or Dominion or Invasion) I found Halo 4’s 6v6 matches just good enough. With 8v8 people objective gametypes are changing more into chaotic mess. Sure, games like Battlefield have very similar 32v32 gametypes, but until there are actually different classes (so one person is doing vehicles, second is making covering from long distance and another one is taking care of team member’s health etc) with entire different philosophy (custom loadouts from Halo 4 aren’t even near to this) it would mean just bigger chaos than in Halo 3/Reach objective BTB matches.
IMO it would be perfect with 4v4 and smaller matches for small, arena-style maps, 6v6 BTB matches for medium maps and 32v32 (or so) matches for really big maps. And these 32v32 (or so) matches should be mostly Team Slayer or King of the Hill with multiple hills.
I agree OP i have long wished for “BTB” to actually be a Big Team Battle.
Chilled Monk: i understand what you are saying but if you want small scale arena skirmishes then slect that playlist, i dont think the OP meant in every match only the BTB playlist.
I really hope they up the ante and use the new hardware in the best possible way. Hopefully there will be some amazing things coming with the next Halo and a bigger player count is definitely in my wishlist.
I really really hope 343i is going to give us actual big team battles!

First off dont assume just because I had a new feature idea that I didnt play the first 3 Halo titles. Iv been playing Halo ever since the release of Halo CE which is most likely more than you.
Also the feature of adding a higher player count would not impact the game as you say it would. Its not changing the core play of Halo like adding AAs like Jetpack or Sprint. Adding a player count does not FORCE the player to do ANYTHING. As other changes force the player in all situations to change.
It is also not changing any gameplay mechanics and honestly how would adding more players “ruin” Halo? Theres plenty of playlists in all the Halo games and Im guessing theres a couple that you hate to play in? If theres a btb playlist that has more players and you dont like it dont play it.
While I agree with you that more changes does not mean a better game. I dont see how adding a higher player count for some playlists and customs would make the game worse off.
