Player Count @ 37,203 Peak on Steam

Imagine looking at this colossal failure and thinking “I know what the problem is and all the OG fans are stupid. The problem is the gameplay needs to be more like Halo 5 and they need to focus on battle royale!” LMFAO. Astounding. Truly astounding.

Pretty sure this was 343’s founding game design motto

You are mostly wrong about halo needing to evolve beyond its core mechanics. But you are correct that Microsoft and 343 completely failed get the younger generations attention.

I am a classic purist and I frankly don’t think infinite is good at all.

With that said, infinite even if it was exactly how I wanted it, would still fail.

What everyone forgets is that halo’s popularity started cracking with reach and collapsed and plummeted with 343’s 3 releases, H4, MCC, H5.

It doesn’t really matter how good or how Infinite was designed. It never had a chance to claw its way out of the grave 343 and Microsoft dug.

There is nothing that would restore halo back to its halo 3 titanic height in popularity.

It’s going on 12 years too late. You don’t get to fail that many times in the games industry.

Do you mean Twitch?

If there’s one metric that’s more commonly used incorrectly or is misinterpreted than Steam population, it’s Twitch viewers.

Viewership is quite possibly the worst metric anyone can use to gauge game popularity because it only gauges interest in the game as a 3rd party. It’s like like saying “I love laser tag” but never actually playing a game of laser tag.

Runescape:
Steam: 5,700
Twitch: 1,100
Actual Concurrent players: 140,000

CSGO:
Steam: 329,000
Twitch: 34,000

Rust:
Steam: 104,000
Twitch: 324,000

I completely agree. This game doesn’t need another F2P BR.

completely ignorant statement pulled out of your behind, based off of nothing but your ego and attempted to be phrased in a pretentious way…to seem esteemed and knowledgeable.

you said nothing when you consider I accounted for twitch numbers not being everything…but dishonest people distort reality for what they want.

have you ever considered the one with the ego is you?

I pulled from 3 in Runescape’s case as Steam/Twitch/Runescape numbers are individually publicly available (and Steam as well as the RuneScape browser are the only two ways to play the game), and two from CSGO and Rust as those games are games that are only available through Steam on PC and thus harness the only potential population numbers period.

It proves my point succinctly and accurately.

Yep it’s scary that a AAA game that is supposed to be the next big Halo and it’s having population that are very closer to older games like MCC and if that’s not a sign that 343i did a poor job at managing Halo IP then I don’t know what to say.

Yeh I’m kind of sick of 343i management of the IP. There lack of interest to make major changes disturbs me and the lack of interest to be more truthful about their games has made me very worried about the IP.

7.2k and 37k are close?

I gotta laugh when I see people using the player count to disparage Infinite.

Even if it were the full picture and the only way to play Infinite was on steam, it’s still an extremely good player count.

Who cares? Every game has substantial drops after a month and Steam is the smallest audience by a significant margins.

Thank god somebody said it. People who use Twitch as a barometer have no clue how anything works.
