Player collision needs to be added

I’m bringing this back up because it’s been several months and it doesn’t look like anybody’s posted on it player Collision needs to be turned on in this game it just doesn’t feel right where my grenades my Rockets my bullets are stopped by my teammates but I am not I can pay through them and I can face through my enemy team why it makes combat very glitchy and malfunctional especially when it comes to melee attacks and then I’ve noticed recently that sometimes when you go and you actually do a melee attack whether it be a bachelor with a melee weapon you actually will like semi bounce off of the person that you are attacking like why is there some player Collision in some instances and also like if you happen to be running at about the same Pace as somebody else and black happens or something you’ll bump and actually will have player collision and very small instances whether it be your teammate or an enemy team if your direction of travel is almost the same but just slightly different you can still get stuck on each other so why is it clear Collision only happens in some instances and not others is it actually coded in the game and just turned off if it is then they need to be turned back on because it’s obviously not completely turned off if I’m running into these instances where I do have player Collision so just switch it on for everything anyone else have thoughts or opinions on this because I feel like this is a major piece of gameplay that is missing from Halo sandbox really it was part of the original sandbox if you don’t have player Collision it completely changes how you can play the game

Tin foil hat time.

I think Player Collision wasn’t functional prior to shipping the beta out, so they turned the bug into a feature and doubled down that it was intentional.

I am repeating myself here,
Player collision, and friendly fire are one of the things which separated Halo PVP from other games, and removing it was a real game breaking decision, as far as I’m concerned. Having to think before lobbing grenades and firing off rockets so as not to accidentally kill your teammates made the game more tactical and fun.

Removal of these staple game-play mechanics has only dumb down the game and made it even more generic. Understanding why they did it is difficult, but since there are so many broken parts of the game, I don’t think it’s a far reach to assume they did not know how to include it without breaking even more bits.

absolutely agree on ot. BUT: imo 343 removed both features to attract mor casual players to get potential spenders in the shop. They sacrificed game depth for money… not an unusual thing these days.

I don’t like the idea of FF in casual game modes. Maybe reserve that for ranked, but player collision would be a welcome addition.

They could always add it in to ranked considering it has HCS settings.

But then they could always add it into social so I can sit on my team mates head and try and carry their flag back to our base.

It changed how you can navigate the map, or bounce around enemy/team. Not being able to jump off people to reach an otherwise out of reach landing/shortcut

FF is in ranked, and its slower paced getting better if your casually warming up with different rules

Just play ranked if you want FF dude

So my laggy grenades can lower my rank sure…

Thats what you think will be the reason for lowering your rank? lol

Its just another feature 343 does to differentiate themselves from Bungie. I don’t even care about their ego. I just want a good playable game with Halo standards. Like Plasma Rifles, they are in every book but not every game.

No collision is one of the biggest mistakes they made with this game.

No words to describe the stupid decisions made and they continue to make.

With my play style not being able to practice with the same rules means i dont know when my grenades are too close or not and to adjust my throwing angle so the blast radius is not encompassing them.
Casual doesnt tell you when you hit a teammate with a blast.

Then you need to play a bit more conservatively. Believe me, I do the same thing; I like to rush, lead with grenades when i probably shouldnt, etc. I have to remind myself to tone it down sometimes, because it usually leads to unwarranted deaths on my end.

Over 12 months in and I’m struggling to recall many times where no collisions is a problem.

It can get a bit confusing off the first spawn.

Otherwise I tend to move with, but separated from, my team mates. I don’t get why people follow each other close enough for it to affect the game.

FF on the other hand. I would bring that back in a heart beat.

I’ve had a great many instances of a teammate walking through me and blocking my shots which is mildly annoying. It’s when they do the same thing and block my grenade so it lands at my feet that it really pisses me off.

I’ve honestly never had a grenade bounce back.

A handful of instances where shots may have been blocked. But none where it has made any difference to the battle.

Sure. There has probably been a few bullets blocked here and there in a close quarter skirmish. But that probably evens out with being knocked around and losing your aim anyway.

I just don’t tend to walk through players. Just naturally. I don’t even walk close by them. Why would anyone want to make it easier for enemies to grenade / shoot multiple players.

And if someone is already heading towards or is at a corner - I would want my team mates to spread out and take a different route. Create better coverage.

Just seems a bit weird.

So overall, I see the benefit of no collision with cleaner starts (no accidental jostling) and cleaner use of the grapple shot. Probably over the rare instances of shooting a team mate in the back.

Although I do agree that player collisions do look better.

And in another thread someone pointed out opponents stepping through each other to act as a human shield (much quicker than having to run around in front of someone). And although I haven’t noticed anyone specifically doing that - it would be -yoink-.

I agree about managing gaps to team mates but my team mates don’t seem to feel the same. I have grenades blocked very regularly. Pretty much every time I jump on for a session I have at least one. I do love using grenades though.

I clicked on the post to read what you had to say and I usually read long posts, but using punctuation would further help your cause here.
