Player Collision is not split. Bring it back

One thing this thread has demonstrated is that some people either don’t care or find having to move around their team mates frustrating.

I’ve yet to see a single practical reasoning for the omission of either feature that weighs against grenade spam and players melding to escape. Furthermore I’m not insinuating that EVERYONE who approves of the removal is bad, but that it caters to unintelligent playstyles.

Which it does. It benefits running away, thoughtless movement and explosive/power weapon spam.

The other thing this thread has demonstrated is that the community is split on this topic after all. And now the narrative is shifting from “the community isn’t actually split” to “well, we don’t need to listen to the part of the community who is okay with the removal because they are just bad.”

Yeah my thoughts exactly.

Here is the overall problem with Halo Infinite. Everything that people love about previous halo games, is being changed or removed because 343 is trying to cater to a new generation of players. Particularly ones are used to games like Fortnite or Apex. It’s why we have a battle pass, it’s why we have no friendly fire or collisions, or constantly highlighted players. We have to remember 343 needs to make money, and new players spend it on battle passes, and skins, but to draw them in the first place, it has to be familiar to them. 343 is like a cellphone/cable provider they pander to new customers and neglect life long customers. We just need to learn to adapt to these changes or go back to the MCC. I can’t imagine 343 will make any relevant changes from the flights, at least nothing that draws OG players back.

Nice rant. Fortnite has player collision though? So I guess what you are saying is that player collision is for “new players”.

Nah just joking. Just funny how, again, it’s a pro-collision posts with it’s only argument is insinuating that non-collision is “for newbies”. Just a tip: You can’t make that argument and make yourself look like the good guy.

To some extent I actually agree. At the end of the day, 343 needs money, so they need to attract a new generation of Halo players.

This just pandering to the rest of the gaming community and not the halo fan base. No player collision is immersion breaking and makes playing in close proximity to other players feel hollow. Player collision should be brought back.

The joke in that old thread was asking wether or not the next step after getting rid of friendly fire to fight griefing, is to remove player collision because griefers can still grief.

People argue the gameplay has to be compromised and altered to combat player attitude and behaviour. Which is exactly where we landed. The next step is ghosting team mates.

You really think I believe they removed it because I joked about it?
No, I’m amused with absurdity of the whole situation.
The steps taken to bubble wrap the gameplay experience, and the joke actually becoming a reality.

My point was that a lot of people don’t like the major changes 343 has made to this game. Regardless if you like it or not, they are in it for the money. I’m sure they have people at 343 that 100% agree with player collisions or other things players have brought up. But whoever it is that passes out the paycheck says this is how we make the most money so thats what we’re going to do.

Yes I am a fan of keeping player collision, but I realize that 343 is trying to appeal to certain players so the game probably wont change. You can disagree with me but thats how it looks from my view.

Topic was on collision and team damage.

Can player collision cause other players to get in my way sometimes? Yes!

Then why do I still want player collision? For that exact reason.

I just want to say that this is an ill intentioned argument.

You seriously believe 343i are removing collision and Friendly Fire to “pass out the paycheck”?

Like c’mon, these were always contentious to some degree, not to say that they were ever unpopular but lets not pretend that those weren’t extremely annoying at times. Friendly Fire in particular was Infamous for being a grief/troll mechanic.

Everybody here preaching about player collision but I’m still more annoyed by sprint lol

Yes I do believe someone higher up is making the call on removing features like player collision and FF, and other. I mean core features that have been part of the game for 20 years are being removed for some reason. It’s kinda of similar when they added sprint and clamper. A lot of people hate those mechanics, but those functions have become staples in modern shooters so somebody, in charge, said we need these features added in. My point is that regardless if you love a feature or not, whoever runs the show at 343 says what stays and what goes, and it’s likely based on gamer base they are trying to appeal to.

I don’t think I have ever commented on this forum, but I had to sign in here to showcase my disgust for the decision to remove player collision. This will limit player creativity and will just look and play bad whenever a situation like this occurs. I cannot fathom any good reason why this would be in a Halo game.

No its not. That’s my point.

Sprint/Clamber impacted far more than Collision/FF ever did. Map design being most obvious.

I don’t disagree with you on that point.

You don’t think removal of player collision and FF will impact gameplay?

If we continue to debate it will end up that they will be forced to put two more playlist (or hoppers as they like to call it) one with collisions and FF, and the other without

I agree that player collision should exist everywhere, being able to spam grenades into a room containing enemies and teammates with no consequences is terrible for gameplay. That being said, I don’t think competitive will be too heavily impacted.

What I am worried about though is custom games. PLEASE make this an option in custom games. So many game modes and possibilities would be ruined by not having player collision. Will this be an option 343?

Player collision is more annoying than anything. The average player seems to be completely unaware of this feature in most games. Blocking your retreat, gathering at choke points, and just constantly bumping into each other.

Leave it out.

I agree player collision needs to be back because a lot of custom games depend on them.
