Player Collision is not split. Bring it back

The halo playerbase is not filled with toddlers. I don’t want to be coddled by no friendly fire or player collision.

The ‘annoyances’ of these systems rightfully being in place is no reason to remove them. Getting throttled by a 4 man and t-bagged to kingdom come is annoying but its part of the gig.

I’d rather walk into my teammates, or accidentally hurt my team. (My action, my fault.)

Than deal with mindless grenade spamming because there is zero consequences for a lack of planning or enemies tanking shots by phasing through each other.

The only real difference with these choices is now the annoying bs is completely out of my hands and rewards worse play styles.

I really don’t get it.

I may just be a lowly coddled toddler, but I disagree. I thought it was nice not being blocked from hiding from a sniper in BTB or being shot by a teammate for my sniper in BTB. Although it did detract from some of the interactions with other players it was overall nice to be able to play the game with less concern about trolls.

Summary

That falls under ‘-Yoink!- happens’ at least the Sniper shooting at you has a fair chance that way, rather than you and all your teammates forming into one gelatinous blob of MJOLNR nonsense.

At least, your friends or good players have the presence of mind not to block your path. But that’s the thing, not everyone has that.

Nor should no collision take away the importance of that. But it does.

EDIT: Furthermore, if someone is in your way you have to think quick, crouch jump over em or side-step and use them as a meat shield.

That includes map knowledge and luck, exhilarating. With no colision you just mindlessly meld and slip through friend or foe. Like… in what world is that better?

I’m confused here. You say this like it puts the sniper at a disadvantage. Doesn’t that increase the chance of a sniper taking down multiple players with one shot?

Regardless, at the very least I think its safe to say that the community is split on this topic.

No, cause you’re moving through each other instantly. Its far easier to bypass each other.

I mean no offence to you or anyone with similar preferences but all I see no friendly fire or collision as is ‘idiot proofing’ Halo.

I agree with you, player collision was in past halo games and it should be in this one as well.

It never should have left.

Pay close attention to the HCS, this will determine more than almost anything else if it’ll stay or not. I see this as an easily exploitable change that could completely derail competition. Enemy has rockets? lets phase together (would it blow the AoE in this scenario? Who knows?) Enemy is pushing? ok then we phase together, then jump the poor lad, resulting a tilt of momentum. No Radar? Well good luck being able to track players now that players can just phase in and out of each other and throw off enemy comms. Oh and you know all those shakey starts in Halo 5 where players would just run into each other? Those are no gone so great starting strats/communication is no longer as valuable.

People think this will impact an average game and I personally think this is a bit of hyperbole, but this could create a seismic shift in the Halo meta for HCS/competitive play.

Yeah, I feel like they just got this completely wrong. If you wanna allow for no collision in social (Still not a fan) then maybe that’s the happy middle. But I swear to god, when I go to shoot someone and they back up through their teammate, I’m gonna be pissed.

I’m usually pretty supportive of 343 but I think they got this one dead wrong. Same with two fast kills on objectives. I’m more openly to that idea.

I disagree, I believe the community is split on this topic. I’m not sure how I feel about no collision yet, but it was a plus in several situations during the technical preview. I am glad friendly fire is removed, I’ve always hated it. Also I am tired of a team mate killing me and taking my weapon. Not only is it griefing and frustrating, it’s also ruined many killstreaks and numerous possible perfection medals for me. I hope friendly fire stays gone forever. Just my two cents.

Yeah I’m one of those people that don’t want FF in social and player collision. So yeah 343 don’t add this back in.

No offense taken, this is just a friendly internet conversation right?

I suppose it is idiot proofing Halo. Personally I see that as a benefit.

Maybe this is one of those things which works better as a game mode setting? Arena definitely feels like it’d be better suited to team coordination, concern over friendly fire and collision should very probably be enabled.

Whereas BTB you’re more likely to be pushed around and betrayed for the big guns. And frankly Infinites BTB felt more focused on individual play than team play anyway. Collision may be more of a hinderance there.

I personally don’t mind not having player collision, I have played games with that system and I enjoyed those games with it, I think Halo has a shot as well.

OP, you’re assuming everyone agrees with you. The community is very split on the matter - personally I agree with 343’s decision to remove it.

I am SO relived player collision is gone. It is by far the most irritating part of playing Halo multiplayer.
There is nothing worse than trying to turn around a corner, back off from a gunfight or even run a flag and a teammate is just bumping into you and then resulting in your demise - it’s just not fun.

Sure, it means we lose head jumps…but who was using those in everyday multiplayer anyway? A tiny tiny fraction of players.
I’ll gladly lose that feature if it means that general gameplay is improved by removing my own teammates as obstacles

Because it seems your inept to think outside of the box or better said outside of Waypoint.
The silent majority (which got a voice through the randomly sent out surveys) obviously had no issue with collisions being disabled.

343i got the data, you don’t. You’ll have to adapt to it for the time being.

Trolls shouldn’t be handled by changing the gameplay, they should be matched together instead.

I joked once about removing player collision back on the old forum on the topic of griefing. Lo-n-behold, player collision removed.
Why don’t we ask i343 to go the full mile and:
-Make team mates transparent, about 25% visible so that you can see through them.
-If you aim at them, a large area around the reticule renders them invisible to you.
-Projectiles are not blocked by team mates. Team mates caused physics does not affect you, and you don’t affect them

Turn team mates into literal ghosts, and you a ghost to them.

It botheren me surprisingly little in the flight. The only thing that did irk me form time to time was when people stood inside of you they were able to block nades and maybe bullets as well which was unfortunate.

This, a lot of players like me Like the lack of collision and team damage, because lets face it Nothing is worse then loosing a game because you have one troll TKing people in MCC.

or worse the rare spawn in right infront of an allied rocket getting your whole team killed by just spawning.

Taking player collision out is ridiculous. Haven’t talked to anyone that thinks it should have been removed.
