Player collision and friendly fire discussion Pros/Cons

Some pros of no collision are: no more getting bumped out of cover into the enemies line of fire, no more getting blocked while mantling onto a ledge etc. I feel the cons list is more extensive so I will go into that

Cons: Your shooting an enemy, break his shield and he takes a step back and his full shield teammate takes his place, Your trying to snipe someone across the map and your teammate decides to start standing inside you and actively block your shot because he wants the sniper, General fun with friends; no more Boosting someone onto a out of reach ledge for quicker access to a power weapon or something, No more messing with an afk friend: shoving him just up to the edge of the map and push him off right as he gets back. I feel removing it overall detracts more then it adds, but onto Friendly fire.

First ones not really a pro more of a reasoning for 343’s decision to remove it, (Perhaps, its just speculation) There are a lot of AOE types of damage and killing your teammates may have just came too easy for infinites style of gameplay and sandbox. I feel if this was the decision it would have been better to just make the AOE types not harm friendlies (within reason) Dynamo would not hurt teammates frag and plasma would/ Ravenger goo fire would not hurt teammates spankr rocket would etc. I feel the complete removal overall hurts team play and strategy as well as the needed punishment for using a rocket carelessly, But onto the actual pros and cons

Pro: no more getting killed by trolls, And AOE are not a danger to your teammates

Cons: It takes a lot away from strategy like for example: your fighting a 2 on 2 in a hallway and the enemies shields are weak your teammate has mostly full and yours are down (As is) retreat and through a grenade to finish them off easily and no danger to teammate (Old way) The grenade will kill your teammate dont do that try to help them finish them off with some well placed sidekick shots, Its not a great example but I think it gets the point across that I’m trying to make well enough.

These are my thoughts on this so far and I have overall way more cons then pros, I’m Definitely on the side that wants these features back. I want to hear some other peoples thoughts in a place we can discuss this without it needlessly turning into an argument so I’d love to hear everyone’s opinions about this and discuss it.

the team clipping im pretty split on, because for one i dont have to worry about being griefed by team mates when trying to retreat anymore, but on the other the body swap option has the potential for frustrating firefights. as it stands i havent really decided which is better.

friendly fire on the other hand, needs to come back. its obvious that with its removal everyones solution has become to spam grenades because there is absolutely no negative consequence for danger close. grenades have always been strong feature in halo and their balancing essentially decides the meta. removing friendly fire gives grenades an enormous boost to function with no drawbacks what so ever.

Yeah I definitely agree on the grenades Its pretty spammy in the current state of things

Ah ok I didn’t know there’s a poll for it but this is meant to be a place to discuss it and hopefully get the community to just give their opinions and feedback on the changes without just arguing over it. I def lean more towards bringing back the classics (FF and Collision) but maybe someone has some very valid points for them being removed and I’d like to hear it and discuss it.
