Remember how in Halo 4 you could see other players Spartan, stats, and such? It was a card like menu that you could even customize with stance. I enjoyed looking over my fellow players before a game starts. Maybe not a big thing, but something I would like to see return. What are your thoughts?
I loved how Halo Reach had it. Halo 4’s implementation felt like it was always falling apart.

I liked how reach had it also. As long as we get something like it I’m alright. I don’t like how halo 5 had it for sure.
Reach did it perfect, so if anything I’d like for that menu variant to return, Halo 4’s UI introduced some unnecessary clutter, and some of the stances looked …odd.

That would be cool but I’d prefer something simpler like reach where it would just show their emblem and name etc. But when inspected it shows their spartan along with some service record information.

That was one of the things I loved about Halo 4. It would be cool to bring that back.

I agree that Reach did it well. It even allowed you to see online friends and local system link Xbox players off to the side. It had a coziness to it honestly.
Unfortunately there’s a trend in multiplayer gaming to make as little stats public as possible so people don’t “bully” others. Which is lame in my opinion as I love competition, but take Modern Warfare for example. They removed all public stats from pre-game, TDM doesn’t even show deaths on the scoreboard, and lobbies do not carry over, you have like 5 seconds to trash talk. I’m noticing that trend in a couple games and I hate it.

Right. You aren’t alone in hating it either.
Nah. Having access to player stats and ranks pregame promotes quitting. People see who they’re up against, freak out and leave before the game even starts. Unfortunately, I believe this is one of those things that we’re better off without, similar to map & game type voting before games.

I understand what you are saying. To be honest, I would sometimes freak out myself. However, I made a habit to not quit. I get that a lot of people would probably would quit though. Still, personally I would like it to return. You are entitled to your opinion so I won’t argue with you. Different views are what makes a community rich.

They could hide player stats until after the match. Pre-match you can only see playtime and cosmetics or something like that.
I like reach’s system from a UI standpoint, but don’t really care to see a lot of stats.
Just show emblem, nameplate, and rank (xp level for social, skill level for ranked) for each player in a list, then you can highlight them to see their spartan armor (and maybe have weapon and pose options).
Ideally, players of close enough rank would play together, so that nobody feels the need to dodge a match (or bully other players).
The main thing here is being able to see player’s spartans. There is something special about identifying players based on how they choose to customize their avatar (and not just choosing a whole skin, like most other games). Additionally, there is lore that suggests spartans are encouraged to customize/personalize their armor (see Noble Team from Halo Reach).
Side note: many Minecraft YouTubers have their entire persona represented by their character’s skin. I’d like to see enough customization options that something similar happens for big-name Halo Infinite players. An emblem in a menu is simply not enough to represent a player.
