Player Advantages off spawn..Why is this bad?

As we all know games like Call of Duty have a Create a Class system that allows players who play over time to have Superior Weapons and Superior abilities which can lead to unfair gameplay… this has always been in complete contrast to Halo games where everybody starts out equally with the same weapon and ability.

Halo fans have held this Equal System close to heart and seem to view it as Superior to the Call of Duty system.

Now that Specialization information has been released we can clearly see that some players who invest more time Will now have Advantages (however small they may be) over other newer players.

The classic halo formula for Infinity Slayer is no longer in play

I however do not see this as a problem I see this as a welcome addition to the halo franchise

Remember there will still be a classic halo playlist if you are indifferent

When I first got into Cod I bought Cod 4 around 9 months after it was released. My first few games I got destroyed mainly because of my horrible skill level but also because I was stuck with a very pitiful weapon with only iron sights.

In complete denial of my skill level I assumed that MY PROBLEM and the REASON I WAS BEING KILLED was because I had poor weapons…

This did not throw me off of the game and send me back to Halo 3 This increased my interest in the game and gave me MAJOR INCENTIVE to keep playing Cod 4 so that I could be on the opposite side of the spectrum and be the one with the fancy guns killing the new people.

In a game with no 1-50 skill level and an invisible ranking system a players incentive to keep on playing can only come from the fun of the game and goals.

In halo reach I played the game for fun and for goals. The problem with reach is that Aesthetic Armor as a prize for a goal only lasts for a while. The armor is not going to change anything about the game… it will still be exactly the same and play the same.

Because of this Halo Reach’s life span for me lasted shorter than any other halo or Cod game I have ever played. (Plus it didn’t help that Reach’s game mechanics were absolutely horrible… but that’s for another thread).

In conclusion It is my opinion that the Create a Class ranking system in Halo 4 with weapons and Specialization will increase my and many other player's incentive to keep on playing so that they can be better than other players. This will help the franchise's life span and popularity.

Once again the classic halo playstyle will still be preserved and if Infinity Slayer ends up being a bust we can all flock back to the system that we know works and that we know will be fun.

Halo has always been an Arena Shooter… this new Halo is not Halo but is a hybrid between Halo and Cod

I’m pretty sure a level 50 with specs will not usually match up with a level 1 who just got the game. Why are people forgetting that?

> Halo has always been an Arena Shooter… this new Halo is not Halo but is a hybrid between Halo and Cod

Why CoD?

> Halo has always been an Arena Shooter… this new Halo is not Halo but is a hybrid between Halo and Cod

since when are you the person who gets to decide what makes halo “halo”?

> I’m pretty sure a level 50 with specs will not usually match up with a level 1 who just got the game. Why are people forgetting that?

Additionally, even if there is a match like that the new comer always has the option to choose the default loadout(s)

You don’t unlock “superior” options. You unlock different ones (in theory, at least. Balancing and all that ) I.e, more variety.

You’re not swapping out parts to make you a better combatant in every way, you’re fine-tuning your loadout to support your playstyle a little better. Ultimately, it comes down to circumstance and personal skill who wins, not your loadout.

Its bad because it achieves something for them, rather than making them work for it themselves.

Examples

The no unscope thing - makes it to where no1 has to learn to no scope, makes sniping alot easier too.

Waypoint over last killer thing - shows you where they are at, instead of requiring you to note their last known position, various routes available to them, the time for arrival, and to be able to know which one they took. This is the worst culprit.

> I’m pretty sure a level 50 with specs will not usually match up with a level 1 who just got the game. Why are people forgetting that?

You can say the same thing with reach but it always does that.

OP needs to calm down…And play the game before he states his assumptions

It doesnt make any new playstyles, it just makes them easier for people who suck at it.

Look at it like this, alot of people have sneaky playstyles. This has existed way before camo was a loadout. These sneaky people learned many tricks and strategies to be unknown to the enemy. It took skill and knowledge, but with camo on spawn, all it takes is for you to press X.

Since when was he EVER stating that this is what made Halo ‘Halo’?

Most battles in Halo depended on skill since people usually had the same weapons. Since people now have different weapons, your weapon’s range matters more now than before.

he implied that what makes halo halo is the fact that it was an based around arena shooter concepts and letting go of those concepts doesn’t make the game halo anymore. He clearly says “this new Halo is not Halo”

> I’m pretty sure a level 50 with specs will not usually match up with a level 1 who just got the game. Why are people forgetting that?

An hour ago I answered that same question. Here’s what I said:

> There’s a difference between your progression rank and your skill level.
>
> If the matchmaking system works, you will be matched with people of about the same skill level, regardless of their progression rank. This means that people with a high skill level and a low progression rank can get matched up with people with a high skill level and a high progression rank. Even though both players are on the same skill level, one will have an advantage because he has a higher progression rank and more items available. That is unbalanced.

So if halo turned into an RTS itd still be halo? Im pretty sure a -Yoinking!- genre change is merit enough.

That aside, he played halo for skillful and fair games, which doesnt exist anymore in halo, which leads him to believe its not halo anymore.

your forgetting about the system in MM where that match you up to people your rank… therefore no one will have the advantage over you… sigh why do i keep replying to these people

> your forgetting about the system in MM where that match you up to people your rank… therefore no one will have the advantage over you… sigh why do i keep replying to these people

Because that is not true.

even if halo changes genre but it is still set in the halo universe it is still a halo game, I’m not a big fan of halo wars but i still accept the fact its a halo game. Besides halo 4 is still a shooter. Plus, how can you already claim that skillful and fair games in halo doesn’t exist.

Its not inherently bad, it just isn’t Halo, and I want Halo.
