Played Halo 4 At EB Expo!!!

So today, I went to the EB Games Expo in Sydney with my friends to check out some unreleased games and the game that stood out the most was, obviously, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (jks, please don’t kill me). It was Halo 4.

We had to wait in the queue for 2 hours straight before we finally got to go in. And then we only got to play for about 5 minutes because the other team lost quickly (a bunch of noobs). Anyway, my was a bit incomplete and short but still i had a nice go with the game and I am already attached with it( as I was MVP with a K/D of 11:1). Here’s my loadout:

Battle Rifle
Boltshot (I kept exchanging it for ordnance weapons so I didn’t get to use it, sorry)
Plasma Grenades
Thruster Pack
Resupply
Dexterity

I didn’t get the time to go through armour but luckily the guy who went before me had similar likes as the armour was mostly Mark VI with the Locus helmet all in black.

Other weapons I got to use were the SAW and the Rocket Launcher (literally nothing else, so please don’t ask me to compare BR with DMR, LR or CC). We played 4v4 Infinity Slayer on Exile. I also got to use the Banshee as well as the Ghost.

Any questions about these which I can answer, I will try my best to!

Thanks

I know many people have answered this… but how did it truly feel like?

Halo: Reach, Halo 3, 2, 1…?

To be honest here, this is the first question that popped up in my head while playing (or maybe afterwards), but really expect a sequel to Halo 3 with the good parts from Reach. So, gameplay-wise, it is more similar to the original trilogy, specifically Halo 3, then Reach.

That’s great, in Halo Reach it felt you were a bit heavy and just generally felt different. But it’s great to hear that it is more like 3

Thanks.

Yeah, you’re right. Frankly, I was disappointed when I got Reach when I compared to the original trilogy. Like someone said “It’s a good game, but not a good Halo game.”

I was there as well today! Had a great time. How many matches did you manage to fit in? In the first session, I could only fit in 3 matches, and my first match was an accidental Spartan Ops, which really peeved me off.

So, was your armor actually black, like pitch black? Or was it steel, as in dark grey?
If they brought back black then it will probably bring back both the positives and the negatives it had in Halo CE.

Hey I was at the expo too. We played a 10min game of Infinity Slayer on Exile. The map had a very diverse range of combat situations with the long range skirmishes usually taking place across the bridge and the around the opposite side of the centre rock formation while the close quarters combat took place within the tunnels of the centre rock formation. The sounds of the weapons were amazing! Though that may of been because of the headphones but overall the guns all sound extremely powerful especially the BR. Out of the BR, Carbine and DMR I actually felt most comfortable with the DMR as it was more precise with each shot.

The SAW absolutely demolishes. Racked up 8 kills with it before dying. The banshee wasn’t overpowered in the slightest and i barely noticed it at all and was not killed by it once. I may have blocked a scorpion tank round with the hardlight shield, though it may of hit the ground in front of me but I really don’t know. The warthog handles very similar to Reach’s though I did only get to drive it for the last 10 seconds of the game.

The boltshot was awesome especially when it’s been charged before firing. Couldn’t stop laughing at the poor sucker who walked straight into it. I didn’t get a chance to use thruster pack effectively though I did test it and it seems like it could be put to good use in a firefight. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to use any promethean weapons as all my ordinance drops contained UNSC weaponry and the only time I picked up a light rifle i was immediately sniped through the head.

The pace of the game was extremely fast and I had no time to just stop and test out some of the new features. All the specialisations etc. were very subtle and there were no noticeable unfair advantages over other players based on your selection. Overall I personally would say that Halo 4 plays like Halo 3 with the best of the Reach features and then some added in the mix.

What?? I hate you. I only got 1 match in one session. Far out. Lucky man.

As far as I remember seeing it in the armoury, yes it was pitch black, not steel or dark grey. I like this because black is my all-time favourite colour other than blue and orange.

You are absolutely right (but please put some paragraphs, walls of text hurt eyes). The pace of the game is what stopped me from testing out much. SAW is a beast with a great kill-time. I picked it for 2 of my ordnance drops. As for vehicles, the banshee has been considerably buffed from Reach in a good way although i was unable to use the cannon due to not knowing the controls.

Specialisations seem to be very subtle from the gameplay I have seen but personally I can only talk about the thruster pack which is useful and doesn’t break map flow or mechanics etc. at all which is great. The only tank I encountered in the game was the one I destroyed with a plasma. That also reminds me of the very start of the game where I got the first 2 strikes by sticking an incoming warthog getting a double kill. Great game, tbh!

Yeah, I might’ve gotten 3 matches, but they took a lot of waiting. I don’t know how many hours I spent standing…

Will you be heading back to the Expo again?

did kandeekane give any gobbies?

Congrats on the playtime, I played it the night before EB Expo at the IGN event, I was going to go to eb as well to get some more hands on time, but i’m glad i didn’t hearing that the wait was so long! I felt like i had to wait a long time, but in comparison, it was nothing. I had about 5 games, it was epic.

See this post for my take on the game.

I am going to be a -Yoink- here, black isn’t a colour, it’s the absence of colour. That being said, black in halo is a colour because it is created using light, although, it isn’t really black, its just the closest colour to nothing.

lol

Most important question: did you enjoy it?

Your favorite and least favorite aspects of Halo 4 you encountered?

Don’t do that, almost gave me a heart attack…

So am I. That is only with light, where black is nothing and white is all primary colors. However with materials (like paint), white is nothing and black is everything.

Same post as before word for word. At least rephrase your posts if your gonna post the same thing.

OT: how was the br

Gratz on playing. I am slightly jelly haha.

Just a couple of quick questions;

I want to run with resupply, but, from the video clips it looks like everyone uses their grenades which in turn I would’ve thought meant there would be none laying around for you to resupply with? Or does it refill when you run over any body?

Also

How did the BR feel? I know it has a longer KT than all other starting weapons, but it has some aim assist and hit scan, so I’m hoping it is balanced. Did you find yourself struggling against other primarys?

Thanks
