One month ago, I was royally pissed at this game. Everything seemed to irritate me and bother me. Every match felt like a complete clusterfu-k. I felt like I didn’t have time to breathe when I played this game and the stress started to kick in.

I removed my Halo 4 disc and left it in cryo for about a month - until now -

During the past 30 days i’ve decided to step out of my comfort zone and play various game of different genres. RPGs, Racing, Real Time Strategy games, etc. After a much needed break from Halo after so many months of excitement leading up to its release and a month of frustration with the actual game, I decided to give it another go.

After today’s session, I felt no different from how I did a month ago.

I played three matches today:
BTB on Ragnarok, Infinity Slayer on Haven, and Infinity Slayer on Solace.

Even on a large map such as Ragnarok, I couldn’t help but feel like I was constantly engaged in firefights. There wasn’t a moment that I could breathe and think about what I was going to try next. I didn’t care if I was going to die anymore. It’s inevitable… With so many additions(Unnecessary in my opinion) to the sandbox such as even more AA’s, easy to acquire Ordnance Drops, and criminally OP vehicles such as… Wait for it… The Sloth, it’s hard to not feel like 343 is throwing random piles of sh*t at the screen that we simply do not need.

Even matches on symmetrical close-quarters maps like Haven turn into a DMR spam fest on the center of the map. However, Solace being a mid-sized map and being naturally more appropriate for the Halo 4 sandbox, regular Team Slayer matches don’t feel as cramped as they do on Haven, but you still can’t help but feel like some of the abilities players have access to are unnecessary. I mean really, Speed Boost? We already have the Sprint function available to us at all times. We already scale maps quite quickly with Sprint alone/And giving players access to a insta-kill weapon like the Binary Rifle after just five or so kills? Why not keep the power weapons exclusive to each respective map’s set of Ordnance drops? Where’s the fun in turning the corner only to be disintegrated by a single bolt of Forerunner goo by someone who sucks?

This game’s too damn friendly!

“Omg dis guy is jast anoder whiney beeyatch and sux at dis awesum g8m!”

Hold your horses.

I’m a great HALO player. I can say that with confidence. However I am no longer a great HALO 4 player.

“But dat duzznt make teh sense stoopid!”

I don’t consider Halo 4 multiplayer to be a true Halo mutliplayer experience. True Halo multiplayer games require you to scavenge the maps for weapons and take control of key points on the map to dominate the opposing team. Halo 4 however gives all of the players the tools needed to cause carnage right off the bat. Instead of having to take a risk and trek across the map for that precious Sniper Rifle, Halo 4 spoon feeds the player and gives them these once rare and powerful weapons after a minimal amount of effort.

“wat is ur point stoopid?”

Give us a Classic Slayer playlist. Stripped down Halo. None of that DMR’s for everyone upon spawn crap. Make us beat the living sh*t out of each other with the stocks of our Assault Rifles if we want that precious DMR or Sniper Rifle. And please, if something like this ever see’s the light of day, remove those damn Koalas… Or Sloths… Or whatever they’re called with machine guns and missiles from Valhalla.

Maybe then will this game earn more of my time. And if you like the game in its current state, keep at it. Have fun, I mean no disrespect. I only speak on behalf of myself and the few others that share a somewhat similar opinion on the subject.

I agree, the game’s just TOO friendly at some points. It shouldn’t be so easy to acquire things like the Binary Rifle or things like Speed, Damage boosts, etc.

I want a Classic Slayer mode as well! It can’t hurt!

you basically went through the same thing I did with Reach. I didn’t play it much and now I play many different games. Before derpreach there was Halo 3. I literally only played that game 24/7. It’s fair to say my halo 3 disc was in my xbox tray for well over 3+ years lol

I only play Halo 4 like once every other week if that. I plan to never go past SR 50 and only play a little from time to time. The game is just not engaging at all. I’ve spent more hours in Mass Effect 3 multiplayer than Halo Reach and Halo 4 combined … and ME3 has not even been out for an entire year yet =)

Ever since the ME3 ending controversy, I haven’t even looked into buying it. If MP is as engaging as you say, i’ll give it a go soon enough

The MP of ME3 is very good. It’s a horde mode game and yehs get to choose many classes to play as. Been playing it since the Demo days myself. I too have more time invested in me3 than h4 and reach combined. lmao!

I played the classic playlist in Reach and even though I haven’t played H2 or H1 multiplayer, I honestly really liked it.

I don’t know why but if they bring it back on H4 it would actually make me strangely happy.

I would still play Infinity slayer though because it seems so chaotic to me and, unlike most people on these forums, I enjoy having fun with other people that suck as much as me.

Wish they had a true FFA…

I suck… I know I suck… Getting a 2.0 in this game isn’t satisfying. Even if I get a 3.0… I will still feel as if the matchmaking is so poor I feel like I will be charged with child abuse for beating young children so bad. Please stop matching me to kids whose voices are still cracking… Unless they have the skills to fight back, then I want nothing to do with them or this game.

I agree, and it’s been like this from Reach - every engagement turns into a huge, mucky sh*t fight.

The only difference is that in Halo 4, they happen faster and more often, whoooh!

I’ll agree with one thing with you. BTB is lacking, severely. The only “Large” maps out there aren’t actually that large. Longbow, Exile and Ragnarok all fail to deliver a BTB style map. There isn’t a map where the true fun of BTB is shown. I remember Sandtrap from Halo 3 being one of the more fun maps to play on. It was large, it had many vehicles, and many underlying structures to get away from the large scale fighting. Halo Reach made an even better map with Boneyard. I can only hope with map packs and forge world variants will see some life breathed into BTB as it is severely lacking.
