Hello everyone
i just wanted to bring up a important topic. I believe that there should be playable species, you know other then UNSC. You ask well what species should be playable? Well i believe both Brutes and Elites. Because of the comics Halo escalation, it would make sense that this could happen. But also, you ask why should there be different playable species? Well i believe that when there is different species involved in halo, it keeps the community more active, and all that other jazz. Personally i believe that the halo reachâs community is still more active then halo 4âs community now. But the different species could really improve the community, and time spent playing the game. I hope you guys see what im getting at, and take it into consideration. please comment your opinion.
I have always kind of wanted this to happen, it would be very fun to play as things other than humans.
Dont think it would work well in a mainline halo game maybe, just because too much change aggravates the community, even if the change isnt necessarily bad or could be argued as good (halo 2 dual campaign for example)
Personally,I would leap all over a game that was released specifically so we could play as different species. A more casual approach, some minor storylines for each species, and a super fun chaotic multiplayer. Playlists where you could be all grunts, perhaps all jackals, hunters vs knights, that kind of wackiness with special tailored controls per species. A true flood mode could work there too
well in the halo story line leading up to halo 5 guardians aka halo escalation the UNSC infinity looks for both the arbiter and the brute leader and makes a peace treaty with them so i believe it should lead into halo 5 as playable characters like halo reach and halo 3 but with this new generation of gaming why shouldnât we have different playable species
Sorry I should have elaborated that I support playing as an elite 100%
As for other species I dont see how they could be eased into a game as their health works too differently.
with brutes being in halo escalation and helping UNSC i think its possible but as in health i donât think thatâs a problem with brutes power Armour they could have health like elites
Each species has a unique movement ability that has a limited number of uses but gradually recharges over time.
Spartans: Thruster
-performs like the Halo 4 Thruster Pack on 120% movement speed
-user stays in first person view while thrusting
-user can attack while thrusting
-jumping then tapping jump again while airborne does a vertical thrust propelling the user straight up about one jump height
-while airborne, holding crouch then thrusting performs a ground pound
-one thrust fully drains the meter whether horizontal or vertical
Elites: Evade
-functions like Halo Reach Evade on 100% movement speed
-while airborne pressing Evade plus a stick direction does a flip that moves the user in that direction, on a parabolic arc, about one evade length
-evade drains half the meter
-flip drains half the meter
Brutes
-not a playable species
-only AI
-many unique movement abilities
Promethean Knights: Teleport
-user can instantly teleport a short distance horizontally, even through walls
-Teleport fully drains the meter
-a visual indicator is left in the air showing which direction the player teleported in
-jumping performs an upward teleport even through ceilings
-crouching performs a downward teleport even through floors
Each species has a unique Enhanced Vision Mode.
Spartans: VISR
-fast scan speed
-long range
-medium duration
-medium recharge rate
Elites: Night Vision
-continuous scan with instant scan speed
-short range
-unlimited duration
Promethean Knights: Promethean Vision
-slow scan speed
-medium range
-short duration
-slow recharge rate
While there are multiple playable species, most gametypes would be Spartan vs Spartan. Gametypes like Invasion would be Spartan vs Elite. Playable Prometheans could spawn new community gametypes or add an interesting element to gametypes like VIP or Juggernaut.
where are getting this info from i would like to read it and know how you know brutes wont be playable

Heâs making stuff up.
good because i really want elites and brutes playable in multiplayer
> good because i really want elites and brutes playable in multiplayer
What purpose would playable Brutes serve? What gametypes would be enriched by their presence?

Grifball. But replace swords with razors.
Brutes are just too different to work in a general matchmaking setting. Unlike elites in comparison to spartans, brutes are dramatically larger, have significant base health, have a unique fighting style unlike the similar ones of the elites and Spartans, and their power armor works differently (permanently disables, no recharge).
So even though playing as them would be fun, to simply reskin a Spartan as a brute does a disservice to the lore and to brutes in general. If we play as brutes they should handle like brutes. Which is why I feel a separate game outside the main story arc would be the only real way to play as other species of halo.

I remember one of the Prophetâs in Halo 2 talking about the âtaming of the Huntersâ and the âGrunt rebellionâ. Those sound like interesting side games as well.

Invasion, Customs, Multi Team (maybe), Firefight (again maybe), Grifball, Forge/ Machinima makers, Juggernaut (since Brutes are supposed to be really powerful), SpOps (if you can play as different species)âŚ
Can anyone else come up with anything other gametypes?

Arenât Brutes gigantic? Wouldnât maps, like doorway heights and such, have to be designed so that Brutes could fit through them? I think I would rather keep Brutes the massive beasts they are in Campaign so they donât negatively affect Multiplayer map design.
i agree machinima makers would enjoy having them and i said i would believe it would improve the community now they can serve a purpose for both a casual halo player but also a halo player that enjoys the universe and that gets into the lore it could improve the halo cannon i donât see why the brutes get the short end of the stick but elites are aloud right in the brutes are in the story leading up to halo 5 so why do they still get pushed aside that really isnât fair they served a big role in both halo 2 and halo 3
âThe massive beasts they are in campaignâŚâ
Do you mean slightly taller and bulkier? Most doorways are made so you can kind of jump and have some room to strafe in. Iâm pretty sure that Brute would be fine. Besides, Iâm pretty sure Elites are on average about a foot taller than most Spartans. Theyâve been playable in 3 Halo games, and Iâm pretty sure there hasnât been a problem with them walking in buildings. Especially in Reach where they actually were taller.
Read some the posts in this thread, they mention scaling Elites down to Spartan size. Why canât we do that for Brutes, at least for some playlists:
Brutes should be this size in Campaign, but they are not. The whole aspect of them being huge aliens hasnât been in the games, other than the intro to Halo 4:
I agree with VolutionsGhost. Why should Elites get all the attention while Brutes get pushed aside. I vote for playable Brutes in Halo 5, as I feel that it would help Halo 5 do well.
We should scale Jackals and Hunters to Spartan size as well to remove any possible differences the species might have between them. Buggers too!
i donât think it would either fit or work in a major installment in halo.
the major halo games should stay true to themselves.
but i wouldnât mind, if they were playable in some kind of spin-off.

Not to mention Flood infection forms.
