Man what a shame but if it’s truly the end of halo all I can say is brothers it’s been an honor fighting alongside y’all to bring back playable elites we had a good run the past 10 years
we really need playable elites. not just because they are cool. but because they made modes like invasion possible and were great for the creative members of the halo community that make machinimas and take screenshots.
So just heard news or at least some rumours (if it’s true don’t know yet)
But a insider by the name of bathrobe Spartan i think mentioned that 343 will be taking a backseat at creating halo games and will be having 3rd party folks making them so there if true who knows maybe they can get this ship straighten out and perhaps down the road we’ll have our playable elites! The unsc needs the swords of sanghelios help to fight off against the endless and banished!
I was thinking this too. Honestly I’d be down for some kind of halo rpg like kotor or the new Ubisoft Star Wars game (if it ends up being good). That way, not only could we have playable Spartans or elites, but brutes, promethian soldiers, even marines or grunts could be playable. This would also give us fans the exploration of the halo universe and story that has been so neglected and scaled down since 343 took over.
There is a cancelled Halo MMO that was in the works for like a month.
Looks like 343 just made a statement, and looks like they’re here to stay. I’m pretty disappointed since having the franchise outsourced to other developers would’ve given us a higher chance. I hope they can recover after the majority of their staff got cut, but honestly I don’t have any hope that we’ll get our Dino’s back.
it was not majority, it was like an estimated 60 people and according to wikis last studio count’ they have 400 employees or so. so a quarter at most.
i do agree however a new studio will be nice cause 343 sucks at making halo. maybe the newer recent changes can make that happen but after 3 games i am not interested in what they make anymore.
Thing is it was most of the story devs, so unless they can get people who are actually qualified to write a halo story, it’s gonna be what another 9 years of just Spartan running and shooting in a straight line?
We’re just gonna have to keep the pressure personally I have a rather good feeling maybe this shake up will get them back and I refuse to back down I want to see that diverse fun filled multiplayer we had back in the og trilogy and reach the elites are just as halo mascots as master chief is
Maybe now we can have some elites since they’re switching to unreal engine
yeah. but those might be some “Unreal” Expectations…eh? eh??
The thing about playable Elites is that their exclusion alone causes a sub-community of players to become disinterested in continuing to play the game.
Yeah there are people who drop off because they don’t like a game’s mechanics, or they simply find a new favorite game to play. But those are nearly uncontrollable influences on players leaving. “Just make it better” is hard to do when everyone wants something different from the mechanics of the game.
Elites on the other hand? You either have them, and keep the players that want them interested. Or you don’t and you lose player count. Noone ever stopped playing Halo because it had Elites in it. So it’s a simple fix, just put them in and you’ll see a population increase.
Oh my, forums closing down…I suppose this seemingly futile quest to convince 343 to bring back playable Elites (or any non-human species, really) is at an end…on here, anyway.
But what I wanted to say was, here were are, a full year and 2 months after Infinite’s launch, and still no closer to getting playable Elites back than before the game released, and perhaps even when 343 took over the franchise and made Halo 4…
I don’t know why bringing back Elites as playable characters, or introducing Brutes (being that they’re the main force of the Banished, who are the enemies of Halo Infinite), is such an impossible task for them, but they’ve let a down a considerable portion of their fan/player base. Not only that, but given how they have been set on monetising almost every aspect of customisation, you would think including another playable character that they could sell cosmetics for would have been a cinch. Not that I agree with 343 & Infinite’s monetisation practises, quite the opposite, in fact. But if it gets playable Elites back…hahaha!
Alright so I saw a post on Facebook that apparently showed a elite warrior from halo infinite that had the digital camo and I keep wondering are people modding this or is it already apart of the game it’s self and if it is apart of the game then what is 343 getting at here? Are they just giving us a hard time or am I just confused?
Link?
I can’t remember if the elites with coatings were heavily modded or not, but I think the modder just applied the gold coating to the ultra
I don’t know about any Facebook post since I don’t use it, but that reminds me; there is a “Shorts” video on YouTube showing off some armour coatings on an Elite. It’s called Halo Infinite: Elite Coatings or something like that, and has 17k views at the moment I am writing this. It’s incredible to see the coatings on the Elite and just shows how much potential is being wasted by 343.
@LilShat1178020 I believe it’s modded, but since everything in Infinite is essentially a “core”, it’s likely that anything could support the coating system, including the Elites and even other species like Brutes.
Since it’s on Facebook I don’t have a link but look up xferginatorx if you have a Facebook account he’s the one who posted it
You may be right but seeing how that works it doesn’t make sense to have them be able to utilize that with out some aspect of being playable maybe it’s just my wishful thinking
I really want to believe that, but I think it’s just how they designed the system, unfortunately. It’s possible that it may make it a little easier to implement playable Elites later, but who knows when they would finally decide to do that?
Nice I found it: elite warlord with the navy digital camo.
I feel like all we can do is keep pushing them to do that and hopefully one day they’ll get added to either infinite or a future title. But current aaa game market gives me almost no hope since all multiplayer games out now are really bad and monetized to hades, so as far as I’m concerned I’ll just be occasionally hopping on mcc for the rest of my life to get my halo fix.
