Playable Sangheili

It’s stupid how 343 insists on making the halo universe so small tho. Arbiter and his faction are pretty big in the sense of galactic politics since he leads a majority of the sangheili people, so why wouldn’t they be fighting alongside the unsc in some capacity

They explain it in the novels.

ONI wants a mutual sort of peace, but not a full-on alliance.
Plus, ONI is also working against the alien races to ensure that no future war can possibly bring Humanity to extinction like the last one almost did.

It was one of the main reasons Jul 'Mdama was fighting Humanity.
He learned the truth about Sangheilian grain being genetically modified to be inedible and over-produce to overtake their agriculture.
So famine would be forced upon the Sangheili and would therefore be unable to rally numbers.
Starvation.
And then he was tortured for that knowledge and other things.

ONI prevents the UEG from being a fully co-operative alliance, hence why UNSC Operations with the Sanhelios civil war was a minimum.

Honestly i would love to as well give me a button to take two plasma grenades out and be a distraction/nuisance for my team while screaming like a grunt and i would be laughing and smiling the whole time lol

But that happened before halo 4. I’m talking about during the events of infinite. Hell arbiter was even supposed to be in infinite at some point but they scrapped the concept bc they probably wanted to “play it safe”.

That concept was from one of the other three builds for Halo Infinite that were being developed until the final build was made, and likely is being reworked for the novel of Halo Outcasts.

Either way we look at we see just a consistent downhill for elite representation in halo. Be it in novels or game.

By representation I mean in a light that further expands the work the Swords and Arbiter have done other then Oni no likey.

Ik it’s more complicated then that but let’s be honest if they had spun this right elites and distance could have been fighting side by side to ensure forerunner tech and rings would never fall into the hands of Ai, or creatures alike.

The humans starting to fulfill the role of the mantle and the Sanghelli beside them.

Break the mold of this Mantle and make anew!

Agreed!! While personally the novels are nice I kinda prefer more of in game representation of the sangheili and have them more of a bigger role like the SOS I really want to see those two fight side by side against the banished and endless I like the start wars esque story more better than humans fight aliens story type thing that 343s got going on

This nails how I feel.

Like mdamas storm covenant, Id really like the banished as enemies, but 343 bland it out by making it just humans vs aliens. I really liked how halo 3 had it humans/ elites vs the brute led covenant, and we got the closest thing to that in halo 5 with the sos vs the covenant remnant. But instead of making separate models for the sos elites and given them combat armor like we see in h2a, they just kinda lazily gave them red storm armor and incorporated into the canon that the sos also have storm within their ranks. I get that it would’ve taken more time and resources but it’s a detail that’s always bothered me since I only ever liked the storm elites as enemies, and at the very least they could’ve given the sos elites the h2a combat armor from multiplayer since they’re basically the same model.

I feel like they took it a step further in infinite with the banished. I think it would’ve been cool if it was the unsc/sos vs the banished since we would’ve still had that exotic alien mystique present but this time in allies with the sos. But I feel the banished, while cool as an enemy, are lacking in that aesthetic since their architecture, and even the brutes themselves, are a lot closer to the unsc aesthetic and more “ familiar ” feeling, to where it just feels like 343 is humanizing the halo universe more and more as they go.

And see that’s what I wondered too about they’re sos armor in halo 5 like literally it was there! H2A multiplayer had those assets why not just slap it on them for just that mission it wouldn’t made more sense but again like ya said time and resources and it seems they don’t have alot of that for the elites despite the fact 343 Saying they love elites and I mean dont get me down out of the series 343 does one hell of a job on those armors just wish they’d focus more attention on them especially in multiplayer just look at the h2a elites they still only have 3 armors yet the Spartans got the proto Spartan armor it would’ve been cool to have the proto elites armor to go along with that and now the Spartans are getting even MORE armor now leaving the elites in the dust in terms of customization

And yeah now that you mentioned it the banished architecture does look rather human not sure how else tho you can make a barbaric yet advance technology but who knows maybe that aesthetic could change

It’s not that I want the banished architecture to change, it’s just disappointing the lack of “alienness” with it being only unsc vs banished. The reintroduction of the sos would bring classic covenant weapons/ vehicles/ architecture, and more importantly the arbiter and playable elites.

I agree like I said it’s missing that Star Wars like space opera feel they’re was a real sense of comradery it’s what separates halo as a whole from other genres of games but now it’s just returned to a space marine vs alien trope and to me that’s just kinda bland and over used

I agree with the OP :100: . Please do it 343

What makes it worse is that if we as multiplayer are supposed to be halo canon, they’re missing out on making elite players canon as well.

There’s a relative general consensus people enjoyed Spartan ops, the story just should’ve been about us.

If they would go the route of Spartan/SoS joint operations it could be a heck of a thing to run side by side open world like missions.

There is a lot of elite armor concepts and work that would happily be taken by fans of given the chance to build the armor for elites.

Both in lore and game there is so much being missed out on.

Dude EXACTLY that’s what i don’t get!! Are our elites even considered canon?!?! I never thought about that!

And definitely it would be an epic sight! The possibilities man and your right there’s a sh*t Ton of elite armors and armor core ideas imagine just fighting the endless or the banished!!! And like I said! 343 can make some amazing armors That personally look way better than the Spartan armor they make!

I made another thread talking about how they can even leave the other creatures in the hands of people who are willing to make these things. Modders all over would be more then happy to take control of this.

Not only that but the stuff that is community curated could have its own shop.

I mean it works! Modders can and have made some crazy stuff even one managed to get the elites playable with some minor bugs of course and the brutes were playable if 343 doesn’t want to deal with all that then yes! I agree hire kidders give em a job and put they’re knowledge for something even greater

I absolutely love this idea. Playable options brought a great joy of uniqueness in Halo 2.

It brings more diversity to the game and separates it from so many shooters these days!

They are given elites train with Spartans aboard anvil station, the infinity, and who knows how many other installations/ joint occupation zones. It’s just that 343 has such a hard on for Spartans and they keep taking the wrong risks so they end up playing it safe and portraying the halo universe so much smaller than it really is, and now all we get of the sos in games is a line of marine dialogue and some throw away references in descriptions for mundane Spartan armors.
