Ever since Halo 4, 343 Industries toss aside being able to play as the Sangheili or Elites. To me, as a Sangheili fan, my heart was broken. And now 343 is continuing that strain with Halo 5: Guardians. 343 said it’s because “they’re big resource commitment & all game development requires production rationalization”. This is unexceptionable because Bungie heard our plees and brought this warrior race into almost every Halo game from 2 to Reach. To every Sangheili fan who wishes to continue playing as a unique alien race instead of playing as a human in future Halo games, protest against this injustice to 343 on Facebook, Twitter, and here, Halo Waypoint. If you want to see our proud warrior race to return in future Halo games like Halo 6 and beyond, please respond and say these words: “Restore the Sangheili for Halo Multiplayer!” Glory to Sanghelios!!!
Meh. I only play as an elite to make everyone I play against angry. Nothing’s more frustrating than a body shot on an elite with a sniper when it clearly should’ve been a headshot.
You’re so cool you had to post this under two topics?!?
Duude! I’ll miss them too, but they just don’t fit Spartan Abilities…

Yes Bungie brought elites into Halo MP but what did they give us? Just elites. Halo 2 elites were pretty self explanatory, Halo 3 elites had roughly half the the amount of armor the Spartans had, and Reach just gave us different skins. I think what 343 means by “they’re big resource commitment & all game development requires production rationalization” is that if they were to be put elites into the game they would want them to have about the same amount of customization the spartans have and from what we know the Spartans have a huge set of different armor types to choose from. But all in all it comes down to whether the game needs them or not and honestly we don’t need elites.Yes they are cool to play with but they don’t improve the game in anyway. I’d rather have 343 widen the armor customization option for spartans before they even thought about elites.
The elites are not coming back because it doesn’t fit the story how would the elites be fighting in a civil war while finding time to go to the humans and train in the war games it doesn’t make sense it made sense for three because the elites where working with the humans. The only reason it was in reach is because Bungie knew that would be their last game and wanted to end it with some people happy. 343 isn’t giving you elites but they are giving you more armor more customization and now in halo 5 you can customize assassinations. The elites were not that special any way you only had like four armor choices so it was really a waste of space. If your mad at 343 for something that really wasn’t an important part of a game then oh well just use the Helioskrill armor. Playable elites is just a waste of space at this point. Sorry

I disagree. I believe playable Elites are needed not only in Halo 5, but also in other future Halo titles. Playable Elites can only be found in Halo, one of the last modern arena shooters. To not only have the option to play as an armored space marine super soldier, but also their split mandible saurian counterpart is something you can’t find anywhere else. That experience can only be had in Halo. And as for the armor? Considering customization for Spartans is practically limited to armor sets, I don’t think it would require much effort to use campaign assets for armor sets much like in Halo Reach. Point is, anyone can make a super soldier shooter. But only Halo can have playable Elites.
I don’t think it’s worth 343’s time to create new models, animations and HUDs just for a playable race that will be very difficult to balance and will be used by a very small number of people. They’ve already obviously had time constraints, as shown by the lack of Spartan customisation.
