As most of us know, we’re able to switch between the original and remastered soundtrack on the fly from the pause menu.
For me, for certain tracks, I’ll have the original music running. For example, at the last section of the Pillar of Autumn, the remastered track just doesn’t feel as “urgent” or loud enough as Marty’s original piece.
I feel like this is a nitpicky critique, but I dislike how long it takes to swap the visuals. Obviously it takes even longer to swap the sound because you have to pause and go to the menus. For some reason I got the impression it would be a much faster visual switch. Still liking the game, but that was a bit of a reality check compared to what I’d hoped for. I was thinking it would be instantaneous.

They can’t make it instantaneous, and if there were no fade it would look really ugly.

Would be way more fun and have greater impact I think. Right now there’s a delay of a few seconds. You don’t get quite the punch that you did swapping between screen shots in preview articles. I’m wondering if the tech isn’t there to make it instant so they just put that fade in there to cover the brief loading time.

Well it is what it is then. Shame it couldn’t be instant, but I guess technology hasn’t reached that point yet. Still, it would be nice if the game at least paused during the swap and reactivated when complete…swapping in combat is currently a bad idea! It can take, by my count, up to five seconds to switch.
When you switch the soundtrack, it takes you back to the last checkpoint. So you really only want to do it when you’ve just cleared a point, after its done saving.

By the sound of it you’ve already played the original enough. Why not just play it all the way through with the remastered soundtrack? Don’t knock it before you’ve tried it in game.

Yeah, but you’ve got to remember we’re playing on hardware that’s what like 6 years old?
I can’t see why someone would swap in combat, but that’s just me.
I will play with the remastered soundtrack on. Not because I expect it to be any better, but because I have an oXbox connected to my TV that has a Halo 1 disc in it very nearly full-time.

I wanted to be able to swap in combat because those moments are often when the coolest stuff is happening. It would have been fun to be able to swap on the fly without worrying about getting shot to death.

I watched a walkthrough on YouTube.
It’s pretty shallow going off of a YouTube video, but the music at the end of PoA seemed kind of weak.

It’s a cached system - meaning the more you do it in a level, the faster it becomes.
As I don’t have the game I can’t comment as to how fast it gets, but it’s going to take longer switching for the first time than it is to switch again.
well…the german version is O_o. There are missing some translations for grunt dialogues. For example “Hey, I see him!” “Hey, he is here!” … ^^ soo 343 or Microsoft. If you read this, go paint some mustaches on somebodys faces…please ^^
My first playthrough will definitely be fully remastered. I will experience Halo in a fresh, nostalgic way. Subsequent playthroughs will probably be a mixture.
I’ve also been listening to the original soundtrack almost everyday for the last few weeks.
