Play offline with bots.

Has there been any info about being able to play multiplayer offline againt bots? Past Arena shooters unreal tournament and quake have had bots that could play deathmatch and CTF etc .

i dont know, i think if they added that it might ruin halo. seriously i wouldn’t want that, and if they added in as first on halo 5, then they probably would have tested it out on their own, but it wouldn’t be perfect, so that would ruin a highly anticipated game. and for the record, its called slayer, not deathmatch.

I’m all for it, I don’t have regular access to internet so it would be a good way to stay somewhat in practice or to even just goof around a little bit.

No word on that yet, and I doubt 343 will implement this, but I’d love to see it.

It’s called firefight

Lol how would it ruin Halo? It gives newbie players the ability to practice better, which would allow them to make the game more accessible without having to sacrifice competitive depth. Of course, the bots would to have a good variety of difficulties, not the brain dead ones of Quake 3 Arena (and when I say that, I’m not counting mods that improve bot functionality).

It would also give the game more replayability if you happen to lack Xbox Live. Having to pay $60 just for a 6hr campaign is completely ridiculous and makes the game very overpriced (you’re essentially paying 10$ for each hour of gameplay). As it stands, if you want to do ANYTHING past the 6hrs of campaign time, you’re essentially restricted to just playing slayer, and that’s only if you happen to know people who actually like Halo. System link doesn’t count, because that requires you to buy another $500 console and another $40 copy of the game just to play some decent multiplayer. Currently, if I want to expand the playing time of my $60 shooter to exceed the mere 6hrs, I have to pay ANOTHER $10 a month. That’s a complete ripoff, and I don’t care what any fanboy has to say about it. It’s nearly as bad as the Corporate Commander from the Angry Joe Show. I don’t really know any PC or PS3 shooters that are this bad when it comes to being overpriced. Now if you’re trying to make the statement that no one would buy Xbox Live because they could play multiplayer without it. False, because when the player’s skill exceeds that of the bots, they would probably want some extra challenge, which could only be found through online play. I say give all Silver users the ability to play Slayer and CTF on any map locally with up to 8 players (including bots), and have all the other gametypes be available to gold members only.

Even if the bots were horribly programmed, they would not be in matchmaking in any circumstance for obvious, so how would it destroy gameplay? You’d be the one choosing to enter customs where bots are enabled. If anything it would also benefit custom games. You would be able to fill empty player slots with bots until those players happen to join. Many times with game nights, it tends to end quickly because there’s a lack of people who want to join, but with bots, you can keep your custom game alive longer without everyone quitting before more people join.

I should not have posted the topic as a question. I WANT bots for offline deathmatch and ctf!

Damn right! We have to demand it!

Sounding a lot like someone played and liked Black Ops Combat Training mode…

Modes like that should just stay with Call of Duty. I personally don’t want to see it in Halo 5

Id only welcome bots if it gave you some sort of xp. I don’t see adding a bot mode in really.

I would like to see them but only if it was like perfect dark where you could unlock harder bots. It would be great for warm ups before going online or if your team wanted to try and set up new strategies.

Bot modes have existed for FAR longer than Call of Duty. In fact, the first CoD with bots was the original Black Ops. And even in the FUBAR world of Call of Duty Multiplayer, they were still best for training. There is literally no downside to adding bots except for one small caveat, and that is simply costing a programmer a few days to a week of work (I think. I’m not a programmer myself). Hell, even if you don’t like them, you wouldn’t have to actually see them. It’s not like every player who drops out of a match will be replaced with a bot.

I don’t see how adding bots could ruin Halo 5. If people own halo 5 but don’t have xbox live gold then it gives them opponents to fight against.

If you actually knew me at all, you would know that I hate Call of Duty with a passion. But you act as if it adding bots will make the game at all like Call of Duty, and you also seem to act like bots are a trademark of the Call of Duty Franchise. News flash: many competitive arena FPS have bots, many of which have existed BEFORE Halo and Call of Duty, like Quake 3 Arena and Unreal Tournament. So to say it would make it like COD is entirely ridiculous, considering that a game like Quake is the polar opposite yet it also has bots. It works well in Quake 3 Arena (especially the CPMA modification) for the reasons I’ve described, so why would it not work efficiently in Halo?

You have not yet given any logical reason thus far to why Halo shouldn’t have bots, while on the other hand, I’ve given many various good reasons as to why the series SHOULD have bots (gives extra replayability for non-members of Xbox Live, makes it easier to start up custom games, and allows players to practice without needing to find a bunch of other evenly skilled competitive players). So if there’s no logic or reasoning to back up your statement, then your point of view really holds no weight at all whatsoever in this argument. It sounds like you’re a fanboy of the classic Halo games to the point where you don’t want anything to change, even if the change can prove to be beneficial to the franchise. I can understand why people hate sprint, flinch, loadouts, armor abilities, perks, ordnance, killcams, and instant respawn, and I definitely undoubtedly agree that these elements are terrible in just about every conceivable aspect, but your complaint that “Bots should stay in Call of Duty and I don’t want to see it in Halo 5” is completely stupid and illogical. Complaints such as these (ones that are made without actual logic/reasoning behind them) sometimes make me question whether Halo fanboys can actually be worse than those of COD/BF’s. Seriously bro, give me actual logic and reasoning as to why it really shouldn’t be in the game, otherwise it seems as though my point of view holds more significance in this debate than yours.

Thanx bro, you took the words right out of my mouth. I happen to really, really dislike complaints such as these (ones that are not supported by actual logic/reasoning). It’s as stupid as someone trying to claim that the sky is actually green.

Slayer IS Deathmatch, the only difference is in name. Cmon now.

Yes,
I don’t know how it should ruin Halo. I mean if you don’t want to play with bots, then don’t. Nobody forces you to play with bots …

I think it would be a good way to practice and learn the maps. If I remember correctly I think they had bots in some of the Gears of War sequels.

Offline bots would be a great addition. It would allow newbies to practice and for experienced players to try and hone particular skills. I still need some work on using some vehicles.

I’d be on board for this and/or re-implementing Firefight  I don’t really care where I mindlessly fight off waves of enemies for hours (not including the campaign), be it MP maps or Firefight maps. I just want to have the ability to do so either way.
