Will we be able to play as Elites in multi-player along side Spartans? I know the Elite is a bigger target etc but that don’t really bother me. If I want to play as a Elite and the risk is being killed easier, so be it.
And if the Elite health system is different, can’t it be changed to the Spartans type. And also make the Elite’s have the same walk speed as the Spartans.
I don’t know, I just enjoyed playing as an Elite in Halo 2 and 3 and with Halo: Reach, they were in separate game modes (except invasion) and didn’t get the play as them quite often.
If what I suggested would be unacceptable, then can’t you, 343, just make a separate playlist that is Elite only? Like Elite CTF, Slayer etc.
I’m sure some, if not many of you would be against this so please do not flame my post. Only positive or reasonable negative post please.
I dont really know. On the first screen shots they posted of damnation they had Elites playing with Spartans in a standard game. However since then we have yet to see the elites in other screen shots or videos. So yeah, there’s a possibility they could return but most likely not as they’d have to change hit boxes and the way health works for the elites.
I guess the Dinosaurs will be staying extinct then.
I really hope not.
It’s frustrating when there’s differences in the hitboxes and character models. The gameplay should be made to be as consistent as possible.
elites should be in multiplayer. I don’t want to be a spartan all the time. even if I do I at least want the option to change from a spartan to an elite.
Meh, doesn’t matter to me. I’ve never played as an Elite (mostly because I don’t care for them but also partly because of the stereotype that people who use Elites are whiny kids).
> Will we be able to play as Elites in multi-player along side Spartans?
I hope so; I have loved playing as elites since I first had the option to.

I assume that Elites will be playable, since it is the Reach engine. They are pretty balanced; bigger hitboxes are almost evened out with faster movement speed. Elites also have shields that recharge faster, in addition to regenerating health. Healthpacks are useless to Elites, because they regain health when not getting shot for a while.

Why hate on Elites?
It’s annoying enough when people in Custom Games set their player models to Elites and then complain when they can’t fit through small spaces on Custom Maps.
Not to mention that headshotting an Elite from the back is still annoying as hell.

a double post. how does this even happen?
Don’t understand lol. I’ve only ever encountered that bug on Bnet. Didn’t know it existed here.

double posts aren’t common here but they shouldn’t exist in the first place. FIX!!!
I hope they do. If part of trying to create a classic “Halo 2/3” feel with the gameplay includes re-balancing Elites in the classic settings so they are the same size as Spartans (In Reach they are already the same shape, so the hitboxes would be the same with scaling), and their movement speed, jump height, shields and health work the same way, it won’t be a big deal to anybody.

Headshotting an Elite from behind wasn’t overly difficult in H3, and it’s hardly any WORSE in Reach. Plus, they’re massive targets for anyone.
That’s a poor reason to prevent Elites from being allowed in Matchmaking. Allowing Elites would mean that the NR was available for those that wanted to use it, for one, and I can see no reason to prevent this as a player choice.
I support allowing Elites, because there’s no reason to deny choice. If I saw an Elite roll up in front of me I wouldn’t worry about it, given just how easy the DMR is to use and how well it hits the rather large Elite head. By the same time, I sure wouldn’t cry about being killed because I CHOSE to be an Elite.

Considering Elites’ hitboxes in Reach are positioned exactly the same as Spartans’, and just scaled up in size. (as they are now SHAPED exactly the same). Your argument about scoring headshots on Elites is completely invalid. Especially considering the fact that in EVERY HALO GAME there has been a spot on the back of the Elite EXACTLY the same size as the little maybe a quarter of the Spartans head you can shoot from the back that is a valid headshot position. Players just -Yoink- and whine for the sake of losing games/kills that THEY WOULDNT HAVE GOTTEN ANYWAY.
Player Models in Halo 3 don’t even remotely affect the game to offer any advantage/disadvantage whatsoever. There are just too many “Elite haters” out there that have to make up SOME REASON they died/lost to their friends. And whenever it HAPPENS to be Elites that kills them, the reason is always that the other team had an “Elite Advantage”.
Players should get over themselves. There was no advantage at all, if there was than why were level 50 Elites so rare?
Actually, the BR had a hard time hitting Elites in the head, and Snipe was also harder to hit headshots with [:)].
I agree entirely than in Reach it wouldn’t be a problem, however, because of better proportioning, regardless of how big/fast/whatever they are.

That is entirely player error from lack of practice working with the Elite model. Players were just aiming in the wrong places because they didn’t take time to learn the hitboxes.
I never had any trouble 4/5 shot killing Elites, 1 shotting them with the Sniper, or nailing them with a single burst in SWAT. The problem doesn’t exist, players just find reasons to whine.
Aiming at the top of a narrow, stick-like body is easier than aiming at the center of a roughly circular body, not in the least because auto-aim draws towards the head on a Spartan more so than an Elite.
I’m not defending those that attack Elites, I’d be for allowing Elites, but I believe there was a difference.
