Bringing back the Elite to multiplayer is one thing, but how would like to also play as a Promethean?
I don’t like having either. Halo 3 was the last one where you could choose whether you were a Spartan or an Elite, but Elites had advantages because they were hunched over, so you couldn’t shoot them in the back of the head. Caused problems (especially in SWAT).
Yeah, I think it would be pretty cool, adding a little variety to apperence never hurt anyone.
At first glance, I would have fully supported this idea. However, the task balancing a Spartan, an Elite, and a Promethean Knight for the same sandbox would be next to impossible.
It won’t work. It never will. Perhaps it will in Invasion (which I hope returns.)

May have been more vulnerable from the back, but easier to headshot from the front.
That all being said, prometheans would have far greater hit box issues.
I’m a yes on Elites coming back.
But when you say Promethean do you mean a Promethean Knight or a Forerunner Promethean.
If you mean a Knight than it’s a no. The hit box is going to be so much trouble I wouldn’t even bother. Plus they make way better bad guys than playable characters IMO.
If you mean a Forerunner Promethean than it’s a yes. Forerunners are humanoid so no hit box issues plus I’m pretty sure the size of a Spartan could possibly be the same size of a Promethean that is of a rank below the Didact.

Not really. Because it’s hunched over, the height of an Elite is shorter than that of a Spartan. Trying to go from a Spartan to an Elite usually resulted in a death (using SWAT as an example). Just causes problems all over the place, I as never a fan of Elites as playable characters.
Maybe a forerunner to play as would be cool!

Wrong. The Didact is a Promethean first of all, and second, Prometheans are Warrior-Servants, and Warrior Servants are HUGE.

> Wrong. The Didact is a Promethean first of all, and second, Prometheans are Warrior-Servants, and Warrior Servants are HUGE.
You have Warrior servants than you got the higher ranking Prometheans. When a Warrior servant is promoted to a Promethean they are put under a Forerunner mutation similar to an augmentation but more advanced. after this the Warrior servant would become a lot taller.
But the Didact is a form above your average Promethean due to experiments with the Flood, so it’s possible an average Promethean is shorter than the Didact seen in the Campaign so it’s possible that a Promethean could be the size of a Spartan.
Your average Warrior servant is of course shorter than a Promethean so if Prometheans are indeed too tall an average warrior servant could possibly be the size of a Spartan.
P.S When did I say the Didact wasn’t a Promethean? All I said was that lower ranking Prometheans exist which is obvious because The Didact is the highest ranking Promethean.
I would like to see Elites return for an improved and increased invasion gametype or for something like specific Elites only gametypes.
And in case they return I would also like to see a larger variety in armor customization for them, not as big as for Spartans but enough to create some uniquness.
On Promethean Knights, well, I am simply not so keen on playing as a ‘faceless’ machine.
Aside the hit box issue, Promethean Knights would lack in several game mechanics while having massive advantages in others, in case they are logically designed.
They would probably only be able to use Forerunner weapons and would not be able to use vehicles or most equipment but would have extreme bounce and lunge, a 1hk melee and could teleport.
So in the end Promethean Knights would probably only make sense and would work in a Promethean vs Promethean slayer gametype and I think that is not worth the trouble.

That was a problem unique to Halo 3 though. In Halo 2 Elites provided zero advantage whatsoever. The head poked up enough to be visible from all angles, and they were more slender and looked far less awkward. If they just took the model that appeared in Reach, in the shape it was in Reach, and scaled the size down as opposed to compacting it all in a slouching position, there would be no problem. Sure that would make the Elites in MM about a foot shorter than those in Campaign, but when you look the way you want you probably don’t care about semantics like your height.
Forerunner Prometheans and Brutes would be easily implemented as well with the same rule: Shrink them, don’t change their shape. All of a sudden we’d have 4 very well balanced player models. As Forerunner Prometheans were humanoid, unlike their fully mechanical Promethean Knight brethren.
So long as the hit boxes aren’t wonky, I don’t care if you’re able to play as Wreck It Ralph.
maybe you can make a new Living Dead game type with the elides flood and Promethean?
then you most do it more on this way.
spartan vs flood living death game type.
spartan vs elide living death game type.
spartan vs Promethean living death game type.
promethean slayer? elite slayer? flood slayer? game type’s.

343 could always go and say that the Storm Elites have been augmented making them bigger and uglier complete with random claws.
While a normal Elite (Who could possibly work for the Arbiter) that hasn’t been augmented would be like the Halo 2 Elites that everyone wants. These Elites will have a more classic look and if we’re lucky work on Infinity side by side with Spartan IVs.
This canonical solution wont work with Brutes however, it’s set in hard cannon that Brutes are bigger and stronger than Spartans and Elites but perhaps a subspecies of smaller weaker Brutes could be found and used (Though this is unlikely). The UNSC and The Arbiters faction are set to have negotiations with the Brutes in an up coming Halo comic so if things go well Brutes are just as likely to be working on Infinity as Elites are.
As I said earlier the size of a Forerunner can vary depending on their rank, so they could work out too. As to a canonical reason why Forerunners will be working on Infinity, some crazy stuff is going to have to happen if we’re going to have them running around in multi player.
I know we shouldn’t need canonical reasons for multi player options but I don’t want to loose my Spartan IV and I want Elite players to finally know what it’s like to own your own canonical character in the Halo universe.
If they bring back the elites and use an updated Halo CE model (or Reach) it shouldn’t be an issue. They stood pretty upright, you can headshot them from behind, and they were “slim” almost matching a spartans hitboxes.
I’d love to see the knights in an invasion like game-type but if they did include some type of forerunner model that matches the spartan hit boxes it’ll be cool to see it as a 343 exclusive we can unlock like the flaming helmet, or how the recon armor was.

I think augmented Elites would make no sense because I guess Elites definitely think augmentations are honorless.
I actually see no problem implanting Elites with their ‘true’ height into MM but then only for a gametype like invasion, because there you can balance it out through other items/ mechanics, or Elites only gametypes.
Have people just ignored the Forerunner books or something? How the -Yoink- will a Forerunner anything be in the new Halo? Even their builders would destroy everyone on the map walking, and taking fire from everyone else at the same time.
I support this, but instead of a Promethean Knight, 343 could introduce something like a Husk from Mass Effect
Matchmaking in Halo 2 had given players the option to play as Elites and Spartans. It was then refined in Halo 3 and further in Halo: Reach where specific gametypes were used for specific races.
343 Industries either didn’t have enough time to implement this in Halo 4 or was quite slack in either case… THEY AREN’T THERE! I understand the hate but the hit box and character models are not just for multiplayer as machinima makers and other users love to utilize the features they offer.
My request is allow players to choose races for custom games, forge, theater… spartan ops? firefight? but online matchmaking make it fair so like reach elite slayer… elite hit box, covenant weapons etc.
I would love to play as a brute or jiralhanae and forerunner promethean as they are unique races that I and perhaps many others would enjoy.
Below is a rough size and hit box chart to follow…
Spartan-IVs will continue to be used in matchmaking and the heights range from 6 foot 7 inches to 7 foot 2 inches roughly. So using that as a bench mark and the kill boxs are set to this height standards then…
Sangheili or Elites heights range from 7.4 feet to 8.6 feet with is approximately the same and we have already see these utilized in previous halo games. They may have a slightly bigger hit box as they are larger… yet they are hunch over due to there skeletal structure.
Forerunner Promethean are classed as the warrior-servant class and are tall, hulking units that stand at about 10 to 12 feet after there mutations. Of the forerunner echelon the warrior-servants are the biggest and the most battle ready. Warrior Servants would not work, yet mature forerunners would their heights range from 7 or 8 feet as a fully matured, imprinted Forerunner…
Jiralhanae or Brutes average height is 8.6 feet and so are no bigger than an elite or spartan and so thus could be implemented into multiplayer.
So in short:
Spartan-IV (smaller then) Elites (smaller then) Fully mature imprinted Forerunners (smaller then) Brutes (smaller then) Promethean yet are really close…
And so Spartan IVs own playlist. Elite and Brutes Playlist. Forerunner Playlist.
Side Note:
If 343 Industries makes Halo 5 matchmaking canon to the halo series thats fine. I have some ideas for the way races could work.
Before selecting game type, game ask what race you want to play as, this then saves time… the game then lets you pick game types or playlist. Then play said game.
Canon: UNSC Infinity WARGAMES Simulations for the Spartan IVs. Forerunner could be past terminals and historical forerunner records recording how forerunners trained to become warrior-servants. Brute and Elites could be the final moments of the Great Schism and thus makes fighting between these to races more epic.
