So Diamond/Onyx players who started out in platinum or lower, what helped you guys bridge that gap between Plat and Diamond? I’m consistently ranked high Platinum and it seems like it never ends, season after season. I’m bad at scoped shooting, which reflects in the maps I do poorly in (I really suck at Refuge for instance, which I feel, among other things, rewards people who are able to shoot accurately and win engagements from afar). I also believe I have poor game sense and map awareness. A lot of times my movement has no rationale behind it, and this results in “headless chicken” plays which give away free kills to enemy team by being out of position. This is why I suck on maps like Truth, because I’m constantly just running around (I never feel safe) and people get easy picks on me. My worst maps are The Rig and Refuge by far (Any tips?). I honestly have no clue how to play these maps. My favorite maps are Plaza, Coli, Fissure.

I’m in the same boat, but cannot break lower platinum. Team arena last season I played at least 250 matches. Very slightly positive k/d and 50/50ish for wins. Literally hovered between gold 5 and plat 2 the whole season. Cannot seam to break through plat 2. Typically putting in solid work for my team.
I’m not at all saying the ranking system is unfair in anyway, just frustrated at my own inability to break through.
Definitely find when I go on a bit of a roll, I’ll get a serious reality check opponents wise to bring me back down.
Alot of practice, the difference in high Plat Arena to Diamond is very big.
As a high Onyx/Champ I am willing to give you some tips on your gameplay sometime! It’s the best way to see what you need to improve on.

Let me know what you place this season. I’m quite sure we’ll be placed in the same ranks as before but it’ll be interesting to see whether or not we’ll do better this season.
