Platinum REQ Packs

@343i

Please keep these REQ packs available on a permanent basis.

As of today I’ve noticed that they remain available for purchase with REQ Points. Here’s to hoping that continues going forward on a permanent basis.

Sadly, it looks like they’ve been delisted (again) today. I’d been saving up to buy one.
Disappointing as I too don’t see why they can’t be available permanently. They cost twice as much as Gold packs, so you still have to pay your price for them.

Yeah. I was super disappointed to see that they were removed. I really don’t understand that logic.

I imagine it’s to incentivise purchases.
Something that’s harder to grind for but has a purchase option available is the marketing strategy for those packs, same goes for any of the packs that are on a rotation.

Maybe, but at the same time removing the ability to purchase the Platinum Packs with in-game credits also carries an amount of disincentive to continue investing time with the game on the regular. And besides, 343i still have other specialized packs that are purchasable that rotate in and out to provide that type of marketing strategy incentive.

Platinum packs in particular were made for special occasions in the first place and were never meant to be a permanent addition. I believe they first appearing during a HCS event back in the day as a promotion for it.

The incentive to play is to grind and get REQS. If platinums were permanent and everything was unlocked super quick what would be your incentive to play after that?

All plat packs give you is one-two extra unlocks (if you don’t have everything unlocked already)… for the price, I don’t see that being worth it. Gold packs would be the better deal… now the legendary XP boost packs… that’s a horse of a different color. That’s one they should leave up permanently, maybe make it a little more expensive to keep the integrity of 152 in tact. But I think that would be a better resolution than keeping the plat packs live…

Yes, Platinum REQ Packs were introduced a year or so into Halo 5’s life-cycle and were often 343i’s pack choice as an incentive reward for people actively watching HCS events via timed codes. Whether that was its sole purpose for initially being introduced, I don’t know, but for whatever reason I just don’t think so. However, Platinum REQ Packs don’t really allow players to unlock items faster than progressing properly through Bronze & Silver REQ Packs before transitioning over to the Gold REQ Packs to finish out their collection.

Platinum REQ Packs simply ensure a greater quality of REQ items & one additional permanent unlock. Players still in progression to unlock all permanent items will find the Gold REQ Packs easily remain the better value because two packs can be purchased for the price of one. Nevertheless, the truly great thing about the Platinum REQ Pack is how it benefits players that split their play time between both the Arena & Warzone environments and have already finished unlocking everything in their collection. In fact, in my opinion it’s a particularly useful pack for those who invest a decent amount of time playing Mythic Firefight & Warzone Turbo in order to help stock-up on more of the premium items that can be critical to earning a win in those two modes.

The replacement payouts for the three permanent unlocks become Legendary Arena XP Boosts; plus, as mentioned previously players are still obtaining REQ items for use in the Warzone environment and those items are of higher quality on average than what Gold Packs provide. Instead of having to save up numerous REQ Points to buy a Legendary XP Boost Pack and then on top of that needing to purchase countless Gold REQ Packs in order to obtain the equivalent amount of quality top tier REQ items for use the Platinum REQ Pack simply provides both in one convenient and fairly efficient purchase.
