Platinum is the new Pro, I guess

My problem is that the ‘journey’ now is a complete facade. The game knows where it wants to place you, and for the most part there is very little you can do to change that.

Sure, but it is considering unranked playlists to build an MMR picture. Ultimately, the hidden MMR is not a relevant stat to the player, they can’t see it. So using it as the basis for their rank is just inviting frustration. People want to know why they aren’t ranking up. They can’t.

I guess I fundamentally disagree with that type of system then.

Agree on the xp system. That is a fundamental part of any online game, and for it to be missing is just such a gross oversight it is difficult to believe.

You can change it. You just have to get better.

The influence is over-rated.

The hard truth is people aren’t ranking up because they aren’t getting better.

There. Someone had to say it.

And it’s a truth we can’t escape. If you rank people up on any other basis you just create unevenly matched games that make people even more frustrated and miserable.

So true. It’s absolutely bewildering this wasn’t built in on day 0.

And I do agree we need some more rewards.

I’m all for some sort of points system for each win vs your own rank. Based around selecting out evenly games with good pings. And then having tables to show off regional, country, and international leader boards.

That would be a far better thing to grind than CSR points (which should be capped). At least something like this encourages you to team up with similar players and play to win.

Speaking for myself, i agree. Playing since launch and i havent ranked above Plat 5 ever. As much as i try to improve my play style, i continuously play how i’ve always played, which most times is me going negative…

Solo/Duo is crazy sweaty right now. Population must be really low. I’m only Gold 4 on S/D and constantly in with Diamonds and Onyx. Definitely not having fun.

High ping and lag plays a huge role too. I lost all my csr “progress” with two back to back losses that I accumulated over a week because I couldn’t do anything. Your csr doesn’t match your mmr like it did with H5 though. So don’t worry about what rank is on the screen. There are Onyx players hard stuck in Gold right now.

I’m not quite Onyx, which makes sense since I was never a 50 in the Halo 3 days I always hit my peak at 42-47 on that scale.

I’m a Diamond 4-6 on Infinite. Which lines up pretty much perfectly for my OG Halo ranks.

Or rather, I was…

Early S2 I got hard stuck Plat 5/6, then finally broke Diamond and shot right up to my Diamond 4-6 ranks in Open. But I threw some games to be toxic to a guy who went +3 with 0 seconds of ball time on the board across 3 rounds of Oddball. So I’m down from Diamond 2 in Solo Duo to Plat 6. And hard stuck. Super hard stuck. I’m matching Onyx 1800 to pro level (Onyx 2k+) players at times.

But super hard stuck in Plat 6 myself. Just like I was week 1 of S2.

I never see ping below 50ms. It’s physically impossible for me to get lower ping than that. But most games are 70-90ms for me, I don’t get my nearest server all that often, especially outside of peak hours. Right now for example. I’m seeing 70-120ms ping and Gold-Onyx 1600 players.

Just not right now, right this very second I’m seeing “there weren’t enough players” every time I search.

A 50 in Halo 5 was around an MMR of 1300, or Diamond 3.

42 to 47 would be the same as a current Platinum 4 to Diamond 1.

At the end of S1 we saw a rank realignment. Everyone was dropped back a division.

That’s some throwing. You would have to go max minus 15 for 3 to 4 games.

You must of really disliked said player

I think you have to make an adjustment to the way you play in wide spread games. The same tactics in a similarly ranked team may not hold you as well.

Carry or support - depending on your standing.

Keep an eye on your expected kills and deaths on Waypoint to see if you are tracking.

This is the tough bit.

Personally I get about a two hour window each day for decent quality games. At all other times I’m wrestling with the game.

Hopefully there will be a surge next week with the CSR reset. And that 343 can pull off a Season 3 miracle.

It seems there’s only ‘pro’ players left, particularly in ranked.

A lot of casuals, myself included don’t play anymore. I only come back to see what updates are happening but I haven’t even played in like 3 weeks.
