Who here thinks the plasma rifle from Halo Combat Evolved should return along with its stun effect
Oh totally. I love the Plasma Rifle. I go so far out of my way to use it in most Halo games it appeared in. Only exception is 2. The Plasma Rifle sucked the hardest in 2. Reach is a close second, but it makes a good backup weapon for your utility pick, since you can drain shields and swap for the headshot for faster close-mid range kills, where in 2 you were just better off going for a 4 shot.
Though… I have a feeling I’ll like the Pulse Carbine even more.
A plasma rifle return will be fun. Although, with Infinite, I expect to see a wider sandbox then ever before.

I don’t know about the pulse carbine I like the carbine from Halo 2 Anniversary and the green shots instead of the blue ones that had in Halo 5 also the ammo is not looking too good for the weapons Halo Infinite
I don’t understand why they changed it to the storm rifle… The plasma rifle has always been a core gun in all of the halo titles… It made covenant weapons not look like a very expensive and high tech human weapon and actually more alien. I don’t get why they are taking away and changed so many Iconic weapons as well starting from Halo 4… Did they lose the copy rights and properties that Bungie made?
I would love to see the Plasma Rifle back again. Give it the stun effect from Halo CE too. The Storm Rifle is pretty “meh” to me. I don’t really care for the design of it that much. That said, it did have some decent variants in Halo 5. As for the Pulse Carbine, I’m not sure what to make of it. I kinda like it honestly. Would still like to see the Plasma Rifle back though.

It carries 25 bursts of ammo, which isn’t that bad. If it kills in 3 bursts optimally, that’s 8 kills worth of ammo. Usually a BR in a Halo game gives you 9 kills worth of ammo when you spawn with it or pick it up.

I want Halo CE levels of ammo and before any one says that 343 want me to optimize all the weapons even if I have a lot of ammo for my weapons it dose not mean that I am only going to use assault rifle and pistol for example I mean from what I have seen we will probably run out of ammunition after the first encounter in heroic and legendary

Bungie were already heading in that direction when they introduced the Plasma Repeater in Reach. I’m not saying it was a good idea, but it was Bungie that started on that path. Not sure why they made that thing, it was never very good and the Plasma Rifle filled the role better than the Repeater ever did.

They made it for Invasion. People generally prefer how bullets deal more health damage, so the Plasma Repeater was designed solely to have a Covenant Assault Rifle that does that. (Its plasma bolts have the exact same damage properties as the human Assault Rifle, draining both shields and health in the exact same number of shots).
I would love a plasma rifle… I would like my shotgun too
I would love classic plasma rifle with stun effect it was my favorite weapon in CE.
I think it’s a very cool auto pistol/SMG. However I do like that they added a real rifle with the plasma repeater.

It did appear in the opening Halo 4 cinematic for a second (not that that cutscene is canonical in my head)
I do agree with you that the newer weapons that replaced it do seem like very high tech human weapons, they don’t really feel right in the hands of the Covenant forces.
I do expect both, the regular and Brute plasma rifles to return. The use of the Brute plasma rifles is especially fitting within the Banished because both the Brute plasma rifles and the Banished tend to use the color red.

I loved the Plasma repeater. The design of it at least resembled the Plasma Rifle which looks way better than the storm rifle. That is what kind of ticked me off. 343i’s weapon designs and sound just really did not do it for me when I got Halo 4. And I had high hopes with Halo 5 and that also disappointed me as well.

The aspect of design that irks me the most is that Bungie had a clear aesthetic for specific types of projectiles. Plasma was generated by the mechanisms at the top of the Plasma Pistol, Top and bottom of the Plasma Rifle, and middle of the Repeater, then funneled and shaped through the magnetic charges at the tip of the weapon (seen on all three weapons). The long, silver barrels were reserved for weapons that fired physical projectiles, like the miniature fuel rods of the Carbine, and the Blamite needles of the Needle Rifle.
The Storm Rifle has a silver barrel, implying it should be firing physical projectiles, not energy. That always irked me. Though it does have a very similar Plasma generator to the one the Plasma Repeater uses. At the very least the Pulse Carbine’s barrel actually splits into two at the end, allowing for the magnetic charges to shape the Plasma after it’s been fired. It makes it look like a Plasma weapon that is actually geared towards accuracy. I only wish it was blue like all other Plasma firing weapons in the series (aside from the Brute Plasma Rifle for obvious reasons) as opposed to pink. Or that they just used the Plasma Repeater and made accurate, fast firing bursts that what it does now to differentiate it from the Rifle. The design of the Plasma Repeater would fit a burst firing weapon because of it’s cylindrical Plasma generator. As opposed to the cylinder spinning up and then firing full auto, it would charge Plasma simultaneously in each chamber or the cylinder, then fire them all off in a burst as the cylinder rotates. The cylinder could have a small transparent surface on each chamber that lets you see the Blue energy stored inside. When you fire the lights go dark rapidly as the cylinder spins a full rotation, then they would quickly all fade back in simultaneously.

Are they trying to turn the carbine into a plasma weapon because I prefer the carbine rifle from Halo 2 Anniversary and the green shots it had instead of the blue ones that it had in Halo 5
I’m hoping that because this game is supposed to be a “10 year platform” we’re going to see tons of old guns return.
