So I’m guessing the plasma rifle and repeater will not be returning right?
storm rifle is basiclly a buffed repeater, no point in it returning. and the plasma rifle probably wont be coming back either 
Its been confirmed for a while that the Storm Rifle will replace the the Plasma Rifle/Repeater.
Plasma Rifle = Storm Rifle
If you want to go with the story , as far as I know , the Plasma Rifle was the Elite’s main automatic weapon, but since we are fighting Storm Elites , they are using their own Plasma Rifle , which is the Storm Rifle .

The Storm Rifle is better than either of them. Besides the Plasma Rifle looked like a toy gun, I felt like an idiot every time I used it.

Storm Rifle actually looks useful. Let’s hope they don’t nerf automatics as much as they did with Reach!
Sad, yet necessary change. It was the plasma rifle’s time. H3 put it in the category with the spiker and smg. H2 did also. When they removed dual wielding, the plasma rifle just couldn’t recover…
