I saw that too, but unfortunately IGN said this and they are very terrible at keeping things strait. With that being said, I believe Mr. Frankie stated I while back that the plasma rifle would not be in halo 4.

Plasma Rifle has been confirmed to be out for a while. The Storm Rifle is the replacement.

Honestly the plasma rifle should come back as an ordnance weapon with all of its Halo CE stunning and slow turning glory.

Sadly, it’s probably a mistake. This is IGN after all. They even said that the Armour Mod that makes it so you don’t get zoomed out when shot was “taken straight from Call of Duty”.

To be fair, that would have been freaking cool.
I believe it was just an example they used probably a joke considering the plasma rifle was ever used in reach.

OT: the PR has been confirmed to not be in halo 4. Storm rifle is the replacement.
The Storm Rifle seems to be a better version than the Plasma Repeater, the Plasma Rifle could be a secondary weapon.
I was waiting for someone to post this. IGN is not the most credible source in the world, they made mistakes regarding what the specializations themselves did. The Plasma Rifle is confirmed out, and unless 343i themselves say otherwise it will stay that way.
Didn’t they confirm that the Storm Rifle would utterly replace the Plasma Rifle?
IGN are pretty terrible at keeping up to date with weapon and vehicle names.
I think the guy was using it as an example. Maybe a mistake.
