So do you think there could be usable recharge stations for plasma weapons in infinite? Its just one of those things i found curious about the original game that i couldnt use any sort of covenant device to recharge the plasma weaponry when obviously covenant troops needed to charge their weapons also in the field between possible combat situations.
I put that in more of a lack of knowledge about covenant weaponry back then but now that time has passed in the universe and elites are in at least mutual agreement with the humans having shared technology as seen in Halo 3 I find it curious that humans wouldnt still know how to use the recharge stations in the field and are only able to use the weaponry.
I’ve always wondered why a recharge system for energy weapons was never implemented in any halo game outside from mods.
I figure it’s just extra development time that can be saved by dropping another Plasma Rifle on the map.

For the earlier games i think it was about something like balancing the weapons if it was even thought at the time.
For instance, the plasma weapons already had the edge of being more effective against most enemy types and shields especially like sentinels were ridiculously easy to destroy and late game elites were such a pain without plasma weaponry.
Other edge they had were that they didnt require reloads which was quite advantage as long as the weapon was shot sensibly using bursts.
And if they also could have been recharged some could probably had just ran back and forth with plasma based power weaponry because its unlimited ammo. Think of beam rifle or similar with possibility of unlimited ammo.
But as for now, I think that the weapons could be different in a sense that UNSC weapons are good against unprotected targets like brutes and plasma would be good against shielded or metallic targets like sentinels. The promethean weapons could be more effective against flood if they get rid of magnetic bullets, otherwise they wouldnt really need an edge in other ways than the magnetism.

Would that be the reason as to why we havent seen the weapon clips either in new Halo games? Remember those from Halo 2 for example?
If that is really the case then i have to say that im rather disappointed though i see why its not high in the on to do list. It would be just a nice little detail though when those little details are added over the time then they will turn to rather big pile of work.
And always adding more and more to make the game more and more detailed is what studios sometimes do and sometimes that ends up on devs taking too much in on the on to do list and end up with having to make even unpleasant compromises like splitting the game in 2 for example.
Just saying that i see why there havent been recharge stations or why there possibly wont be in Halo but im also saying it would make sense to see them in the game.
Also, i can see as to why it would become more work than first appears given weapon balance and sensible placements would have to be thought to make them work in the game.
Or those could just be placed on alien bases or similar where bigger battles happen if there will be such.
And obviously they would possibly just be in the campaign if the weapon balancing would become an issue to some degree since id imagine it wouldnt matter as much in singleplayer or co op as it would in competitive gamemodes.

Yeah, I just don’t feel like they will dump the time into it. Not to mention exploits the Sword and Beam Rifle.

Possibly wouldnt matter that much in the campaign and running back and forth there would be just boring. As long as its not in the multiplayer modes the balance shouldnt be that strict.
As for would the time be used to add function to existing models in-game can be just guessed right now. Its still a long road ahead in development.
Yeah having to go back and forth to recharge weapons would be a waste of time. It’s easier to pick up a partially used one and go back to ‘work’.
It’s weird that they haven’t done it already, every game I wait to see it and it never happens lol.
I think it should be added to campaign, maybe add a few types that work with different kinds of weapons, that way you could have the ones for basic weapons included on multiplayer maps, while the ones for energy swords and beam rifles would be campaign only. You could even give them a capacity so they can’t just be exploited for infinite ammo.
I’d like to see this in a Halo game. If you’ve played Wolfenstein 2, the diesel charging stations made me wonder sometimes if we’d get to see something like it for plasma weapons in Halo if the setting was right for it.

It is interesting indeed. I have waited to see such things since I first experienced the beach section in silent cartographer and saw the covenant equipment around the beach and started to think that could I use some of these things to recharge the plasma weaponry the covenant troops so friendly left laying around after I let my guns do some of their reasoning with the enemy forces.
I mean, obviously the covenant needed to recharge their weapons somehow so I had to check if i had the option.
Just have to wait and see once again.

Maybe like the 2 place weapon racks for beam rifles first seen in Halo 2 and then different 4 place racks for such weapons as plasma rifles or plasma pistols. So 2 different variations that include 2 handed and 1 handed weapon placements and in multiplayer the usability would be limited to regular weapons only.
Maybe have your multiplayer character vulnerable while the weapon reloads to balance it in multiplayer like in some games there are ammo caches that require you to do animation to grab the clips.
Though im not that sure about the capacity in campaign at least given its covenant tech that is rather sizeable and meant to keep the troops with full batteries.
I think that would be a cool concept. I always assumed it was some kind of battery capsul they replaced

I think there is a replaceable battery in covenant weaponry but when you think about it dismantling their weapons to recharge in battlefield conditions would be rather inconvenient.

This is from the Halo 2 game manual.
Plasma pistol description:
> Both Plasma Pistol and Rifle use power core we don’t fully understand.
Plasma rifle description:
> Once energy core has completely discharged, it is useless.
That’s kind of a good idea, not sure how it would be implemented but I guess it could work similar to how Half Life 1 get’s health by terminals but eventually the terminal runs out. Also love to see the health terminals to return.
