Plasma Pistols Should Not Be Loadout Weapons.

At the very least, they should be restricted to non-vehicle maps only.

I’ve played a lot of CTF on Ragnarok, and recently started playing more BTB in general. The single biggest problem right now is the plasma pistol; more specifically how everyone has one.

Vehicle combat is pretty much dead. Once even one enemy figures out you have a vehicle up, the Plasma Pistols come out and it’s all over. Vehicle runs for flags? Forget about it. Someone’s going to spam your vehicle down the second it stops or even slows down. This is especially bad with Warthogs and Ghosts. The only vehicles that seem to stay up for longer than a minute or so are the Mantis and Banshee, and even then, they have to turtle or fly very high to avoid overcharge bolts.

The Plasma Pistol is a power weapon on vehicle maps. They pretty much ensure that your vehicle is going to blow up in the next 5 seconds. Why even put vehicles on a map when everyone can spawn with the perfect anti-vehicle weapon?

Even on non-vehicle maps, having the Noob combo available to you is just ridiculous.

Plasma Pistols should go back to being ordinance or map options. They’re very powerful and very useful, and definitely shouldn’t be available to players off-spawn.

Sorry man. You just need to learn to kill people before they get you. I for one love having the plasma pistol especially against those -Yoink!- Mantises.

There are so many things in Halo 4 that shouldn’t be in the loadouts.

> Sorry man. You just need to learn to kill people before they get you. I for one love having the plasma pistol especially against those -Yoink!- Mantises.

There’s plenty of other vehicle-killing weapons, including other vehicles.

You can’t “learn 2 play” against an entire team of Plasma Pistols. My bud and I are pretty much expert warthog operators, and we just can’t get around it. One guy can charge up his shot before we can even get his shields down with the chaingun. Now think about 2-3 guys who are all doing the same thing. You can’t just dodge it, and you can’t kill them before they throw a hail of grenades down on you.

Like I said, the PP is a power weapon on vehicle maps. Why can we spawn with it?

So that totally explains me and my friends getting tons of Mantis, Warthog, Ghost and Banshee kills, right?

Oh, wait, no it doesn’t. And that’s with people actively lobbing plasma charges, grenades, stickies…the whole kit and caboodle.

Long and short of it is that Plasmas do NOT guarentee a kill of a vehicle. More than once someone has EMP’d our hog, only to get the chaingun full in the face when they try and rush in. Ghosts and Banshee’s are more vulnerable, and the Mantis is if you try and force it into close quarters.

But why, on the flip side, should Vehicles be only scratchable by those with power weapons? And, just because the tools are there, doesn’t guarantee that your average brain-dead online gamer is going to think to use them.

This really is a case where “No, sorry, adapt” is actually a valid response.

Wraiths are massive targets. Every time I use one some annoying person comes over it hits me with a PP over and over again until he boards me. If I start getting out then he will just charge it up hit my own shield with it and then use a precision weapon to head shot me. It’s so overpowered.

Agreed. Like Camo which can be placed in a loadout!

I dunno maybe, hm, noticing that this is a known tactic and NOT suicide rushing them in the Hog repeatedly? Some games you have to realise that certain things are not viable tactics. I love my Assault Rifle. I’m also not stupid enough to use it on Ragnarok. I like getting kills on the Hog turret. But I can sometimes do more good staying off it and sniping people instead.

If you KNOW something is not working, then why the hell do you keep doing it anyway?

Or Boltshot. Hell, I don’t think I can play a game outside of SWAT/Slayer Pro where half of the enemy team ISN’T using the Active Camo/Boltshot combo.

one of the specialisations gives you a reduced emp so I guess just deal with it until you unlock that perk

You can get around it a little bit if you stay really far away from your enemies at all times, it’s just a lot more fun to get in close and go for splatters, which is impossible now.

I love using the PP on vehicles. So many delicious tears.

I have to agree with Ice Wolf here. If you’re using a vehicle and pick off single targets as you’re supposed to, PP’s aren’t very big of an issue. If you DO get PP’d, too bad. The reason they exist is for the ability of a single person to get the upper hand in a firefight with a well-placed shot. Well-placed applies to vehicles assuming you have some teammates on the ground distracting your attackers, in which it would be quite difficult to charge a PP, then continue on to kill the vehicle when there are Spartans constantly bringing their shields down and such.

This is definitely a case of “Adapt”. I’m playing on vortex and my friends are complaining that the wraith is overpowered because they keep getting killed. They’re literally running straight at it and trying to board it. So I explained to them the concept of hiding as it gets close, plasma pistol and board from behind.

Then they complain that the wraith gets out of EMP stun before they can board it. My friends, plasma pistol it again!

Now if your the wraith, don’t use the boost to rush into the middle of the action. The wraith and all power vehicles have long range for a reason. You can easily kill things by staying back and far away.

Don’t expect Halo 3 tactics to instantly work, figure out what you’re doing wrong and fix it.

While it probally is quite a ways away for most, there is a specialization for it. Operator changes reaction to emp, increases durability, etc.

I agree, but remove it from loadouts in all maps. Noob combo is noob.

I agree, vehicle combat is dead in Halo 4 thanks to the plasma pistol, and everyone having power weapons thanks to ordinance. It’s really quite sad.

Plasma helps for the drunk drivers in the ghost constantly ramming us.

I have a much harder time landing a plasma bolt in Halo 4 then I ever did in any other Halo game. The tracking is nothing like it used to be in Reach or Halo 3, plasma bolts are much easier to avoid.

When I do land one on a Warthog, I usually end up taking a chaingun to the face.

You want to remove a weapon that’s supposed to be a counter to vehicles from maps with vehicles? My head, it’s spinning.
