So… This is an out there idea, but why not plasma pistols in breakout instead of shotguns. If you’re going to give players shields, give them a weapon that takes them away. Shotguns are just a one shot kill in range, but a plasma pistol or noob combo takes more skill to pull off. It would make for really fast, fun, gameplay in my opinion. There would be less shotgun campers. Also close range encounters would be more about gun fighting that spraying AR’s or shotguns.
I’d be happier with theTacmag & silenced SMG’s for starting weapons.
Plasma pistols would be interesting but I think they’d really only work if those were the only weapons on the map… And at that point it’s not so much Breakout as it is Paintball.

I didn’t even think about the paintball aspect as much as a weapon that can take shirlds down. The game was normally made with no shields, so a compromise of sorts.
Magnum/SMG starts…

Some differences, it was less about paintball and more about something that can disable shields with skill.
It should just be put back to how it was. Radars, full shields and shotguns all ruin this game type. I loved breakout before this hideous change.
Would be interesting. But I think the plasma pistol works as a power weapon on the map - having them for loadouts would be fun though
