Sorry if I’m using the wrong terminology for things like PV and all that, but it’s easier for me. Now while it’s probably too late in the dev cycle to change, is there any reason the Plasma Pistol and any weapon with an EMP-like factor to it can’t turn off Armor Abilities temporarily in Halo 4?
Come on, wouldn’t that have been satisfying in Reach wen you see an Armor Locker, blast him before he uses his ability and back peddles in fear as he relives his one chance of living is gone? Give it a try in Halo 4 with it’s abilities.
Eh…I heard the PP can be in a standard loadout. Too many plasma EMP’s will be annoying. I think I counted 41 “noob combos” in one multiplayer presentation, where a player blasts an overcharge, shield goes down, and then oneshots the head.
Yes I’m all for that Idea if it can’t be used on team mates and the Hard light sheild because it would make it useless the thing already is as usefull as stick in a gun fight.
I approve as well! The biggest problem of them all with the previous set of armor abilities is that they grossly simplified gameplay. If you used AL, you used AL and there was nothing any other player could do to contribute to the game. The same with evade, sprint, camo, holo, and jetpacks. Granted, you could actually kill the user of those but not in any other way than that you were going to kill that user anyway and the AA ultimately failed to change that. The bubble shield was the only ability with an actual counter (make more booming!) but even then it was a pretty simple mechanic which didn’t ultimately change how you approached combat.
EMP effects disabling these abilities, on the other hand, would be a pretty cool idea. It’s a left turn on the usual frag-punch-headshot! and it could help empower an otherwise niche weapon. The problem is that with a vehicle disabling and shield-destroying effect too you could make the plasma pistol way too useful, or even a necessity.
Depending on how this would work out, you might need to nerf the other aspects of EMP weapons in order to allow for something like this. Or you might introduce an entirely new category of weapons (ie. forerunner) that drain your AA meter whenever you get hit by them as a passive ability. Then to compensate you could reduce damage, ammo capacity, and/or increase reload time for those weapons.
What if you’re using Promethean Vision when you get hit by a PP overcharge? Your screen could get covered in a static-like effect. I think that’d be pretty cool.
