Plasma Pistol and Pulse grenades

How am I supposed to get these commendations? As if ones like the Sticky Detonator ain’t already annoying enough but these just do so little damage.

I’m making steady but slow progress on these two by playing lots of Regicide FFA (and dying a lot in the process).

It can be done if you want them badly enough.

I have 33/50 pulse grenades kills. I’ve added them to all my loadouts and, I am using them in every game type I play. It’s coming along but man what a pain. Geez!

Steal other people’s kills. If there is someone with no shields then spam them.

Melee, pop, pop, pop, pop, dead. Rinse and repeat.

I don’t even know what the heck was on 343 mind when they made the pulse granade:

-Slow explosion.
-Small blast radius.
-Ridiculous low damage.

I don’t know how people do it, but I have been hit with a pulse nade… killed me right then and there. The Plasma Pistol… I usually get killed by either being in a ghost/goose/hog or (lol) someone shot me right after another hit me with emp. Sad part is, its usually a DMR user across the map. I can see assisting a team member, but thats just out-right being a kill theif.

I think I have a grand total of 3 kills with the Pulse grenade and maybe 2 with the PP out of my 11k total kills in War Games.

Try using pulse grenades on Dominion. Not only is there tonnes of vehicles to board you can throw them at bases capture points. You can also use grenade modifying perks such as Explosives, Resupply and Grenadier.

Plasma Pistol kills are slightly trickier. Well a lot trickier. Theres 5 methods of earning kills with the PP.

1: X2 Charged shots will kill a player.
2: Use the single fire function on Regicide or any future FFA game type. You can steal kills.
3: Weaken them with an automatic primary weapon then quickly switch an finish them with PP single shots.
4: 2 single shots followed by a melee and then 1 more single shot earns a kill.
5: Use the ordnance priority and ordnance re roll perks. By doing this you can greatly increase your chances of getting damage boost which you can in turn use to get PP kills. It’s best to have one load out for getting the DMG boost then switching to a dedicated PP class.

I hope these tips help someone.

They act as area denial grenades used for holding down areas. They are very useful when used correctly. The initial blast is actually quite powerful meanwhile the continuous blast deters movement. Anything caught in the final compression will be destroyed.

Dextarity helps switch and i’m not sure but might help fire faster. I use that with firepower… works great.

I only need less than 20 kills with the Pulse grenade to master it. It really isn’t that difficult. Just down someone’s shields then throw the grenade directly at them.

Melee + Pulse Grenade to the feet = Almost instant kill.

Works everytime.

I have both of these done and as queenly said beat down and pulse to the feet almost instant kill. The pulse grenades are extremely good at finishing kills if you can hit them with the initial blast. think of it like a sticky grenade you can explode almost immediately on impact with a wall or the floor.

As for the PP. Honestly, The method of weakening them and then finishing them with the pp is ok (my friend got it doing that) but for me really just getting used to the timing and almost using it like a burst weapon worked best. Kinda like tap tap tap, tap tap tap, then fire(at a moderate pace) till they die, should usually get you the kill cuz honestly breaking shield isn’t the problem it’s the 8 shots at no shield that is >_<

Big hint for Plasma Pistols…

You see a guy with an incineration cannon or rocket launcher in a tight area. Rush him and put a few Plasma shots into him. If he accidently suicides on his own blast your Plasma shot counts as the kill

Same goes for Vehicles racing around on Meltdown. Just got a Warthog kill with the Plasma Pistol just because I emped it, and it flew off the side of the map

Also helps that if you see someone falling off a map (Haven, Complex etc) try to nail them with one Plasma shot and you get the kill.

As for Pulse Grenades, I get most of those in Regicide, Team Regicide or Oddball. If a team happen to be guarding their king/ball and camping like fools when some damage has been done to them, throw in a Pulse s it goes just behind them and when they back up to escape they get esploded

Plasma pistol I can understand but pulse grenades are easy to get. Rather than chucking them then firing try it the other way round. Pulse grenades devistate Spartans with no shields

Well the Plasma Pistol one you might as well give up on. It does enough damage if you spam it, but it overheats faster than a Brute Plasma Rifle in Halo 2.

For the Pulse 'nade. Spawn with them and choose Grenadier and Explosives as your perks.

The trick to them is that they do a “full” Grenade’s damage exactly three times, once as a “burst” when they start, once as a Damage over time as they sit in place, and again when explode as they end. So the trick is to shoot someone 2 or so times with your BR/DMR/LR and then just throw one at your enemy’s feet and let the “impact detonation” do it’s job.

I do this in reverse more often, where I “impact detonate” them and then headshot for an instantaneous noob combo. But that won’t count as the grenade that killed them.

Also, if you EMP a Ghost or Warthog then chuck your Pulse nades at them, it will melt them. Each Pulse nade will do one and a half Plasma Grenade Sticks’ worth of damage.

What do you mean “Slow” explosion, it’s the ONLY grenade that explodes on Impact!

It’s Blast Radius is larger than a Plasma Grenade’s.

And counting it’s initial burst, damage over time, and ending burst, it does 3x the damage of a Frag Grenade.

For the Plasma Pistol just do it in Regicide rapid single shot style against wounded people. I’m up to 669 out of 940 this week and have been averaging like 8-10 a game.

The UNSC Weapons and many others are very straightforward when it comes to practical use. Things like the pulse grenade take time to learn how to use right. I have learned and I am really good with it. Like I said, with many weapons the first uses will be futile. When you learn how to use them they become super effective! Getting KILLS with the plasma pistol? LOL can’t help with that though, thats impossible…
