Plans for new weapons?

What are 343’s plans for adding new or existing weapons?

This Season is themed on Halo Reach, yet there’s no sign of the DMR. Which makes me concerned adding weapons isn’t planned, if at all.

The game is beyond stellar, but I’d like some classics back like the Covie Carbine for example.

Granted, the BR is great…at medium range, from my experience. The Commando is ‘interesting’, but I personally haven’t come to master it yet.

Bringing back the DMR would fill that medium-long range gap, as BTB is what I’ve always stuck with.

Again, it just seems odd they’d leave the DMR out of the Season.

Would love them to bring back the DMR. So far their weapons look like a fire work display. They don’t understand that with Halo, simplicity is key.

I think the commando was the play for the DMR. I could be wrong but zoomed in with the single shot. But I’m sure the full release will have more. Since this is a “beta”.

There are reasons as to why the DMR and Carbine were taken out of the sandbox, to prevent falling into the same trap that Halo 5 did with a muddy sandbox with alot of weapons doing the same exact thing.

343 Industries does have plans to add both new and classic weapons over time though, just be patient as the game has been out as early access for three days…

True. I forgot about the whole ‘beta’ thing. LOL.

Pacing shots with the Commando seems inconsistent to me. And it’s recoil doesn’t help.

The DMR is that ranged hard-hitter I need.

I think part of the problem is that the recoil on the Commando is very strong, and now that it’s been nerfed it’s very difficult to kill people in a timely manner at it’s intended range. If anything I’d want it to do more damage but increase the recoil on it to just make it a long range automatic cannon of a rifle but with enough recoil to make it require decent skill to kill

I have been struggling with the commando. I need to do a weekly with it. But I’m really thinking of just swapping it out lol. Skill issue I guess.

I agree with the more damage. That’s the first thing that crossed my mind when I first used it.

Temporary fix, try the Stalker Rifle. 3 shots, 2 zooms, it does have bullet drop but it’s the closest equivalent in this game imo.

Alright. I’ll give it a shot. No pun intended.

No idea how many times I have suggested it but theres room for ALOT of returning and new weapons. Its not about muddling the sandbox BUT to have options regarding weapons from UNSC, Banished, Forerunner that might fill same field of use bu also having their UNIQE flair and such.

Tons of weapon stats parameters can be changed:
The list of parameters/ elements below is of assumption and from logic point of view something 343 also uses for balancing and testing. Something similar I think.

Min/ max/ optimal range
Projectile
Projectile Velocity
Hitscan
Hitscan spread
Reload speed
Overheat duration
Max ammo
Magazine/ clip/ battery/ fuel size and capacity
Rate of fire
Melee speed/ recovery
Weapon damage per tick/ projectile
Bloom ( random spam spread )
Spread ( non bloom )
Spread pattern
Bounce
Effects duration/ aoe/ chain hit/ dps
Bare armored hands dmg/ melee speed etc
Melee weapon dmg/ area of effect/ recovery/ swing speed/ effects/ gravity impact/ lunge etc
Gun mounted melee effects/ dmg like blades
Effects like supercombine, plasma ionizing stun
Grenade dmg/ aoe/ effects etc

Soooo my wish is for the DMR, Needle Rifle, both a first person lighter flamethrower aka Halo CE and heavy flamethrower to return alongside Incendary grenades, Ma5b 60 mag bullet hose, SAW, Plasma Rifle, Standard covenant Carbine and Plasma Repeater to return. Regarding " oh too similar plasma weapons, waaah "
Stop it! No reason to be short sighted.
Regarding the plasma gund. Weeeel add an stun effect ( ionized gas = plasma ) to the Plasma Rifle. Could do that to the repeater as well, BUT cumulative at the cost of much less stun per shot and you need to keep on target for longer

The DMR and Needle Rifle should absolutely have no bloom, no hitscan, have their range bracket OPEN. Namely half medium to long range.
Between the BR/ pulse carbine and s7 sniper. Even if the Stalker rifle are in that same bracket. Make them unique in behaviour. DMR have lower mag size ( 12/ 15 ) than a BR but fires faster, bit higher headshot dmg and less to head to kill, one more body shot though. The NR have its unique supercombine. Could have slower rate of fire but bigger SC aoe dmg for example

Aaaalso. The Plasma pistol MUST have its EMP back!
One shot to stun small to medium vehicles, sa.e normal shot dmg but NO headshot multiplier.
The other stun weapons and grenade can have needed shots upped by one, bit longer duration needed to stun.
Regarding that. Im agreeing with the youtuber Hidden Xperia ( great dude, great content ).
The Shock Rifle could/ should do less direct dmg but relegate THAT dmg to the awesome chain electricity in- direct exfect dmg that occurs hitting several enemies but also metal objects, like lockers, weapons on ground, vehicles etc

Lastly

343 have a decade, 10 years alot of worforce, resources. So no excuse not to expand, deepen, make things more interesting and fun

Regarding balance for multiplayer and especially ranked, competive.
Each new and returning weapon need to be, few at a time be tested, flighted whatever with top players and the masd of us others to ensure uniqueness, viability besides balance. NO weapon should not be able to kill unless ver specified to not do so. But then it wouldnt be called a weapon but utility and we have that in form of repulsor, grapple shot etc

New and returning weapons could also be re/ introduced in seadons, events ( petmanent ) etc

Thanks for reading, fight on and take care!
