Apparently there is an issue where no matter how good/bad you do in placement matches you are out at 1700 Onyx. Suggest looking into that.

I can definitely say it’s not happening for everyone.
I did all my placement matches with the same player. We won all 10. I killed more due to our tactics but beyond that we had the same performance.
I got Onyx 1700 and he got Diamond 3

Nah it’s all good. We’ll see whether it’s an issue or not.
I’m definitely hoping it is not a bug as I’m majorly chuffed with it, though kinda feel like my teammate deserved higher

I got 1700 onyx too… I thought it was from mmr carrying over along with good placements but hearing this makes it sounds fishy… maybe if you were onyx/champ at all last season you got 1700… I also check a guy i played against… it appears he went 3-7 in placements and got 1700 onyx. On top of this I lost a game today and only went down 2 csr which seems unusual given the guy had about the same mmr as me. Drop should have been steeper. Something seems to be seriously off about this season…

Bah! There was me all proud about it, but definitely sounds like there’s something fishy going on.
I was Diamond 4 last season so if that’s carried over at all it might have helped, but still seems like a jump…
